The Phillipines was one of the first places to taste US imperial influence. The whole Spanish American war gave the US its first idea of what world power status would be like. The Phillipine insurrection has been described by many historians as a proto-Vietnam.
Still a lot of US influence there. Most people speak English, and many firms will have set up manufacturing bases there (my main client has a plant there).

Yes there is a lot of American influence and 90% of the people speak English. Most schools teach it.
I dont know what he is seperating from because they have just held war games with the Yanks. but the Americams have handed back most of the navy bases and airfields that they used down here. Economically the people see very little of any American aid if there is any at all.
Obviously a lot of American Expats due to the military being here for such a long time and marrying the local population
