The new contract will extend the normal working week in which doctors can be told to work their 48 hours from 7am-7pm Monday to Friday to 7am-10pm Monday to Saturday. Many will also see their pay cut because they will no longer be paid overtime for working evenings and Saturdays.
Its statutory hours within a working week on flat pay, nothing new there, been seen and done the last 20 years in many industries, we are all bleating because its the NHS and all that bollocks of how its the backbone of the Nation. (rose cheeked at the moment thinking of the war)

Right, I’m sure some might see this as controversial. I’m not trying to start fights, and to be honest anyone with crass comments just keep them to yourself.
This is a really fucked up situation, and it is putting a vulnerable person in pretty severe danger. I would strongly advise looking into the rates of violence/rape, mental health issues, suicides and murders against trans persons.
The approach needs to change, not saying the woman involved is an angel, but she does not deserve this.

I do not have a massive amount of time for the movement, particularly the way that they have tried to suppress Germaine Greer’s right to free expression, but I have signed this.

Hmmm, not sure I’m totally with you on this. But as I said, not here for fights. Maybe a separate thread on Greer is needed. I have issues with her too.
But good on you (both) for signing.
We need a free speech under threat thread. The concept pops up loads, but we never store it in one place.

A petition calling for her to be moved has been signed by more than 115,000 people, and fears for her safety have increased after reports that she had been sexually harassed in the prison.
Not saying she shouldn’t be punished for her crime, but this is not an acceptable way to treat anyone.

Word. It’ll prob get difficult in future tho with cases that are more borderline. Maybe prisons should be mixed, I don’t understand why they have to be Same Sex in first place.

this is my problem with these on line petitions. They’re too easy to sign. They require no effort. You don’t need to have any genuine feeling about the subject, it’s not like getting off your arse and marching or something. I knows that you’re a protest veteran, pap, but you’ve just signed a petition without knowing if its real or not and then posted it here to get others to sign it. What’s that all about?
