Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini is out with a groin injury, although the Italian could be fit to face Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Fellow forward Charlie Austin remains sidelined, while Virgil van Dijk is unlikely to play again this season.
Bournemouth will assess Ryan Fraser’s hamstring problem, while Harry Arter and Junior Stanislas could return from respective calf and groin injuries.
Lys Mousset is also a doubt and Tyrone Mings is still suspended.
Adam Federici, Callum Wilson and Rhoys Wiggins remain out with knee injuries.
Simon Brotherton: "Bournemouth’s recent upturn in form has eased fears of being drawn into the relegation scrap and means they go into this game level on points with Southampton.
"Eddie Howe’s team could win three in a row for the first time in just over a year and, if they did, it would be a first ever win away to Saints.
"Interestingly, Bournemouth’s three-match unbeaten run has coincided with Jack Wilshere dropping out of the starting line-up, costing him his England squad place.
"Meanwhile, two more Southampton players, Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse, made their debuts for the Three Lions in the recent international break.
“Add in the under-21s, an impressive total of seven players were called up from St Mary’s for England duty.”
Southampton manager Claude Puel: "We now have many players available for the team with good spirit. When I can’t take an international in the team like Jordy Clasie, it’s difficult for me for him to stay at home.
"It’s always difficult to make a choice, but it’s important for all the team to have the respect of the staff and all the players.
“They must keep a good attitude because we have many games [coming up].”
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "We’ve never won at Southampton, so we want to create history this weekend.
"From our perspective, this weekend is a bit of a different game for us. We want to give our supporters something to shout about.
“We’ve been more consistent recently, but we know there’s a long way to go and that we have a tough run of fixtures ahead.”
Southampton turned Bournemouth over when they met earlier in the season but I don’t think they will repeat that at St Mary’s.
Local pride is at stake here and I can see Bournemouth putting up a decent fight and leaving with a point.

Claude Puel has urged Southampton’s new England internationals not to change the approach that earned them their senior debuts, and believes his club can benefit from the experience they will gain.
The manager recently watched Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse make their first Three Lions appearances, against Germany, and in the same squad in which Ryan Bertrand and Fraser Forster have long featured.
He is happy two of his finest players’ progress is being recognised by Gareth Southgate. He is also confident that it will further encourage their development, as long as they maintain the dedication that led to their first caps.
‘I didn’t want to give them pressure,’ said Frenchman Puel, 55. 'It’s important they keep a good attitude. The will to make progress every time, and to improve, is the most important thing.
'They are the same (in training since representing England). And I want them to stay with the same attitude, and humility.
'For example, Ward-Prowse stays at the end of the training sessions to continue to work, he doesn’t change anything. It’s the same for Nathan.
'It was important to perform and to continue this work. It was an opportunity for them, it was a fantastic thing for them, but they now come back to work, with good results.
‘For the young players it was very interesting for them to see the national team, and important for the club also, because all this is a good response for their work at this club for many years.’
Puel’s positivity regarding his internationals’ involvement comes at a time when Everton’s Ronald Koeman has again been critical of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, following injuries suffered by James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman.
Manchester United’s Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and Liverpool’s Adam Lallana also suffered injuries with England that will concern club managers Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp.
Puel is already without the absent Virgil van Dijk, Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini for this Saturday’s home Premier League fixture with Bournemouth, but he said: 'It was a good reward to see Nathan and James on the national team.
'This is great for the team and we need to continue that.
'It’s great, fantastic for the club, for them and all this we’ve done with a good feeling and focus about the Premier League and all the games.
‘We have had 15 international players (away during the past international football break).’
Another international, Uruguay’s Martin Caceres, could make his Southampton debut on Saturday after the defender was declared available for the first time.
It’s what millions of us do every day - predicting what the score will be in a Premier League match.
Whether it’s a thumping 4-0 home win, a sneaky three points on the road or a 0-0 bore draw, let’s be honest – we all think we can tip the outcome of the next game.
Well, now we’ve challenged Sportsmail’s experts to test their prediction power.
Each week, we’ll ask one of our star columnists to go head to head with one of our top team of reporters.
They will offer their prediction for each Premier League match - and explain why they went for that score.
Next up, it’s MARTIN KEOWN vs North East football correspondent CRAIG HOPE… and don’t forget to tell us your predictions by leaving a comment below.
MARTIN KEOWN: Liverpool have ruled supreme at home but Ronald Koeman will have ensured his side are well prepared over the international break - Liverpool 2-2 Everton
CRAIG HOPE: These early kick-offs tend to be a bit of a snooze-fest and a low-scoring draw is most likely - Liverpool 1-1 Everton
MK: Mauricio Pochettino will not allow Tottenham to fade away as they did last season. It will be tricky at Burnley especially without Harry Kane but Spurs simply have to win, no matter how ugly - Burnley 1-2 Tottenham
CH: Spurs will have to win every game between now and the end of the season if they’re to reel in Chelsea, and there’s every chance they might - Burnley 0-2 Tottenham
MARTIN KEOWN: Sam Allardyce has instilled a fighting mentality in this Crystal Palace team. While I cannot see past a Chelsea home win, Palace will make them work for it - Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace
CH: There’s no stopping Chelsea and this should be fairly routine - Chelsea 2-0 Crystal Palace
MK: I’m looking forward to the battle between Harry Maguire and Andy Carroll. Marco Silva has not lost a home league game for the last three years and he has given Hull real hope of beating the drop - Hull City 3-2 West Ham
CH: Hull need a win and they should get it against an out-of-sorts West Ham - Hull City 1-0 West Ham
MK: Stoke have tightened up away from home since being thrashed by Tottenham and I cannot see them giving Jamie Vardy much space to run into - Leicester City 1-1 Stoke City
CH: It’s enjoyable to watch Leicester again and, incredibly, they will close the gap on Stoke to three points with victory here - Leicester City 3-1 Stoke City
MK: Psychologically, United have their noses in the race for the top four, sitting ahead of Arsenal and with games in hand on Liverpool. The Merseyside Derby could mean this is a good weekend for United - Manchester United 1-0 West Brom
CH: The Baggies insist they aren’t letting up in their pursuit of the top seven and I’m backing them to spring a surprise and upset Jose, who can’t even blame the fixture pile-up on the back of an international break - Manchester United 1-2 West Brom
MK: Jermain Defoe must be walking on air following his goalscoring return to the England fold. Equally, Troy Deeney may feel overlooked by England and he is dangerous when he has a point to prove - Watford 2-2 Sunderland
CH: Until Sunderland show something other than indifference towards their relegation fight then you can’t even tip them for a draw - Watford 2-0 Sunderland
MK: Losing Manolo Gabbiadini to injury is a big blow but there is quality all over the pitch for Southampton. Oriol Romeu is superb in midfield while Nathan Redmond and Ryan Bertrand link up well. Bournemouth have turned their season around but Southampton will be too much for them - Southampton 2-1 Bournemouth
CH: With both teams on 33 points, the winner of this will as good as renew their top-flight status and I think the hosts will have too much - Southampton 2-0 Bournemouth
MK: This will be the perfect game for Swansea to rediscover their confidence after two bad performances against Bournemouth and Hull - Swansea 1-0 Middlesbrough
CH: The visitors have not won since December 17 and I can’t see that changing here, they just don’t score goals - Swansea 2-0 Middlesbrough
MK: So much hinges on this match for Arsenal. This is a chance for all the talking to end and for the players to stand up and be counted - Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City
CH: City can be irresistible on their day right now and this will be another morale-crushing defeat for Wenger - Arsenal 1-2 Manchester City
Southampton will look to get back on the winning trail when south coast rivals Bournemouth visit St Mary’s on Saturday evening.
Claude Puel’s men have lost seven of their last 10 Premier League games, which has stagnated their progress towards the top half of the league.
The Saints currently sit in 10th place, level on points with Bournemouth, but the hosts do have two games in hand on their rivals.
Eddie Howe’s men come into the game on the back of two straight wins in the league that has lifted them comfortably out of relegation trouble.
Martin Caceres could make his Southampton debut at home to Bournemouth after being declared fit for the first time.
The defender recently arrived as a free agent and will vie with Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens for selection in central defence, with long-term absentee Virgil van Dijk still out of action.
Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez are in contention to start up front after Manolo Gabbiadini, because of a groin injury, joined Charlie Austin - who has an injured shoulder - on the sidelines.
Bournemouth will check on the fitness of midfielder Ryan Fraser (hamstring).
Winger Junior Stanislas (groin) and midfielder Harry Arter (calf) both missed the win over Swansea before the international break but are expected to be available, while French forward Lys Mousset has been carrying a hamstring
problem.
Defender Tyrone Mings continues to serve his five-match suspension for a stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Forward Callum Wilson, goalkeeper Adam Federici and defender Rhoys Wiggins all continue their recoveries from knee injuries.
Southampton have won two of their three Premier League games against their south coast rivals Bournemouth (L1).
The Cherries have never won an away match at Southampton in any competition (D4 L8).
Saints have won each of their last three meetings at home to Bournemouth by a 2-0 scoreline, twice in the Premier League and once in the League Cup.
Jay Rodriguez scored twice in Southampton’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth in December - half of his Premier League season tally (4 in 16 apps).
Josh King has eight goals and one assist in his last eight Premier League appearances for Bournemouth.
Southampton have named the same starting XI in their last three Premier League games - they haven’t done this for four successive league matches since a run of five matches in November-December 2012.
33 points is Southampton’s lowest points tally in a Premier League season after 27 games since 2012/13 (27). At this stage last season they had won 40 points, in 2014/15 it was 46 points and in 2013/14 they had 39 points.
Bournemouth have been awarded a league-high nine penalties in the Premier League this season.
There have been five penalties missed in games involving Bournemouth this season (of 14 taken); more than any other team. Bournemouth have missed two of these, their opponents have missed three.
Bournemouth have conceded 31 goals in 14 away games this season in the Premier League (2.2 per game) - 21 of which have come in their last eight on the road in the competition.
I think there will be goals in this. Southampton gave Bournemouth the runaround at the Vitality Stadium earlier this season and I fancy them to do it again.
I think Bournemouth punch well above their weight, even though their form did take a big dip. Their ground holds 12,000 people, I think every season they stay in the Premier League, it’s a huge, huge feat.
Until they move to a bigger stadium, they can’t compete with the big teams in the Premier League, however.
A big derby on the south coast and the Saints are 8/13 with Sky Bet to complete the double over their local rivals in the Premier League this season. Puel’s side came out on top 3-1 in their encounter just before Christmas and a repeat of that scoreline to the home side is an 11/1 chance. The Cherries have recovered from a slump in 2017 by winning back-to-back matches and are 17/4 to make it three on the spin with a draw trading at 3/1.
Josh King bagged a recent hat-trick against West Ham and he is 7/1 to open the scoring and 100/1 to fire in another treble.

Boufal has struggled to live up to his big-money price tag following his summer move from French club Lille. The Moroccan will be out to shine when Southampton face south coast neighbours Bournemouth at St Mary’s today. Puel said: “It is a little difficult for Sofiane. We know his talent. He’s a fantastic player. At the moment he has some confidence problems and I need to discuss this with him to find a solution. “It is all new for Sofiane - the atmosphere, the consistency. It is also new to participate more when he has lost the ball.
“For him the difficult is to find the good balance and to play more simply” “It’s important he can keep his quality. He is a young player and can be the difference. It is important to respect this. “For him the difficult is to find the good balance and to play more simply. “This is normal for the first season. I don’t want to put him under pressure because he is an important player for the future.
“At the moment there is a lot of pressure on him and he likes to play and needs confidence to give all his possibilities.” Boufal has scored just one goal in 15 Premier League games and Puel added: “It is important to see at this level with his quality he is happy to play with this team. “At the moment there is a lot of pressure on him and it is difficult for him to have just 15 to 25 minutes to play.
“He likes to play and needs confidence to give all his possibilities.” Puel is also challenging strike pair Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez to step up in the absence of injured in-form Italian Manolo Gabbiadini. He said: “We know the importance of Gabbiadini, but it’s an opportunity to see different players like Long and Rodriguez. It’s an opportunity for them to show their qualities.”
CLAUDE Puel is refusing to put record signing Sofiane Boufal under too much pressure after a mixed first season at Saints.
The Moroccan international, who signed for £16m from Lille last summer, has struggled with fitness issues in his debut season and, like many others in their opening campaign in the Premier League, consistency.
The 23-year-old has shown glimmers of his ability with stunning goals against Middlesbrough and Sunderland, but has started just one game in 2017 so far.
Puel plans to talk directly with Boufal and has some words of advice as the fleet-footed attacker tries to adapt to life in the top-flight.
“All of this is new for Sofiane – the atmosphere, the stadium, the Premier League, the level and the consistency also,” Puel explained.
“He needs to participate more when we lose the ball, but it’s important to keep his quality, his penetration.
“He’s a talented player and on his strong points he can make the difference. It’s important to respect that.
“It’s important to find a good balance for him and also to play simpler in moments.
“It’s normal for a first season [to find it difficult] and I don’t want to put him under a lot of pressure because he’s one for the future.”
After having to wait until October for his debut, due to a knee injury he’d picked up with Lille, Boufal looked to be settling in to life in England during a run of five successive league starts in December.
But, after pulling out of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) duty with Morocco following an inflammation to his previous knee issue, he spent a period building back up to fitness.
He was then unable to play for Saints because of restrictions due to Morocco’s involvement at the AFCON.
The midfielder returned at Swansea on January 31, impressing in a second-half cameo. He started the following match against West Ham at home, but hobbled out of the 3-1 defeat.
Following that, Boufal was kept out the team with Puel changing the formation to 4-2-3-1 and Saints discovering good form in his absence.
There were hopes he’d have a chance to find some rhythm while on international duty recently, but started neither of his country’s matches – although he did come on in the 52nd minute during a 2-0 win over Burkina Faso in Marrakesh.
As a result of all of these factors, Puel admitted: “For the moment he lacks some confidence in the play and I need to discuss with him to find a good solution.”
