Saints Foundation set to expand education programme
Show/hide article…
The two-year programme, which has been delivered at St Mary’s Stadium since 2011, will be launching in Fleet, Basingstoke, Salisbury, Newport and the Isle of Wight as of September 2017.
As well as studying for a BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and training every week, students will also have the opportunity to improve their footballing skills and work towards gaining a career in sport.
This development will be supported by 6-8 hours a week of training with FA qualified coaches, as well as time in a small classroom setting, within which students will be supported on a one-to-one basis.
Those enrolled in the course will also gain work experience opportunities with the wider Saints Foundation programmes.
All abilities will be catered for within the course to ensure that each student has a pathway to fulfil their own potential. A competitive fixture programme will also be included, and preparing for competitive games will be a key part of the daily training.
Andrew Hunt, Education Satellite Co-ordinator said: I’m very excited to be involved in this and with the staff we have here, the players and students will be learning from the best.
“I truly believe this is the perfect platform for students wanting to enhance themselves both on and off the pitch and I am proud we are now able to open it up to a larger audience.”
Mark Gamble, Education Manager at Saints Foundation added: “From the success we’ve had over the last six years running the programme at the stadium, it has been a natural progression for us to open it up.
“We are very proud of what we do here and our passion is to continue to grow this in wider areas. We want more people to be aware of Saints Foundation and be able to benefit from the fantastic work being done across all of our programmes.”
