Jon Whitney’s side followed up last weekend’s 4-1 victory over table-topping Sheffield United with a comprehensive 3-1 win at home to Bristol Rovers.
On-loan Celtic defender Eoghan O’Connell gave Walsall the lead on the stroke of half time, before Simeon Jackson and Joe Edwards’ second-half strikes secured all three points.
Rovers did pull one back in the closing stages, however, as Matty Taylor headed home his 16th goal of the campaign, but that was no more than a consolation.
The win lifts the Saddlers up to 13th in the League One table.
In the Championship, Sam Gallagher’s Blackburn Rovers held Birmingham City to a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park.
Despite going behind after three minutes to a Lukas Jutkiewicz penalty, Rovers fought back and levelled in first-half stoppage time through Danny Graham.
Gallagher then had a chance to seal all three points on 67 minutes. Birthday boy Liam Feeney’s cross found its way through to the Saints loanee, but he lifted his shot over the crossbar.
The point sees Blackburn remain in the Championship drop zone, but they are now level on points with Wigan who sit in 21st.
Paulo Gazzaniga also played out a 1-1 draw in Spain on the weekend, as Rayo Vallecano held Elche at home.
The Saints stopper was beaten in the first half by Guillermo Fernández to give the visitors the lead, before Nicolás Fedor Flores equalised in the 73rd minute.
The point sees Vallecano remain 17th in the Spanish Segunda División.

Southampton bounced back to form to avoid an unwanted fifth straight Premier League defeat for the first time since 1998 and eased the pressure on manager Claude Puel by beating a poor Leicester side 3-0 on Sunday.
James Ward-Prowse scored one and made another for Jay Rodriguez with a pinpoint free kick as Southampton stormed into a 2-0 half time lead before Dusan Tadic sealed a comfortable win from the penalty spot four minutes from time.
Leicester were woeful, but Southampton still had to be clinical to punish the struggling champions.
Scoring goals has been their main issue this season but they found their ruthless side by netting three at home for the first time since beating Burnley 3-1 on Oct. 16.
The win and clean sheet was just the confidence boost Southampton needed ahead of the second leg of their EFL Cup semifinal at Liverpool on Wednesday.
Home fans held their breath when Virgil van Dijk went down injured. The imperious Dutchman is now a major doubt for the trip to Anfield.
8 – Supporters feared Puel would field a weakened team to rest key players for the Liverpool cup tie, but the Frenchman realised the importance of returning to winning ways in the league.
His decision to drop Shane Long after scoring the winner against Norwich in the FA Cup in midweek raised eyebrows but the move was vindicated by Rodriguez’s goal.
Leicester could not handle Southampton’s three-pronged attack of Nathan Redmond, Rodriguez and the excellent Tadic.
Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)
GK Fraser Forster, 6 – Had a quiet afternoon but dealt with what he needed to with minimal fuss.
DF Cedric Soares, 8 – Provided an extra attacking option down the right and linked up superbly with Redmond to help set up opening goal.
DF Maya Yoshida, 7 – Continues to impress at the heart of defence. One of the most improved players in the Premier League.
DF Virgil van Dijk, 7 – Given a standing ovation when he hobbled off. Southampton fans will be praying their main man makes a speedy recovery.
DF Ryan Bertrand, 7 – Played almost as a left wing-back with numerous overlapping runs. Worked well in tandem with Tadic down the left touchline.
MF Oriol Romeu, 7 – Reliable as ever and got through plenty of dirty work, which allowed his front players to shine.
MF Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, 6 – Beavered away gamely but the Danish international was wasteful in front of goal.
MF James Ward-Prowse, 8 – One of his best performances in a Southampton shirt, Scored the all-important first goal and set up the second with free kick.
FW Nathan Redmond, 7 – Played his part in Ward-Prowse’s opener and forced a couple of saves from Kasper Schmeichel.
FW Jay Rodriguez, 7 – Was on his toes to capitalise on an error by Robert Huth to score the second goal. Deserves a run in the team now.
FW Dusan Tadic, 8 – Had the beating of Danny Simpson every time down the left and whipped in some dangerous balls before dispatching his penalty late on.
FW Jack Stephens, 6 – Did not let anybody down after replacing the stricken Van Dijk.
FW Shane Long, N/R – Will be disappointed to only get 10 minutes on the pitch after his midweek goal against Norwich in the FA Cup.
