Michail Antonio picks his #One2Eleven on The Fantasy Football Club

Show/hide article…

West Ham United winger Michail Antonio chooses his #One2Eleven on The Fantasy Football Club.

The 26-year-old has played for a plethora of clubs during his eight-year career, including Tooting & Mitcham United, Reading, Cheltenham Town, Southampton, Colchester United, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and now the Hammers.

Antonio has gone with a 4-3-2-1 formation and told The Fantasy Football Club who makes his XI…

I am going to start off in goal. I have a couple of people I could throw in there. I am stuck between Kelvin Davies, Darren Randolph and Adrian, who are all quality 'keepers. I was at Southampton with Kelvin Davies and he was unbelievable, commanding and takes charge in the box. I could say the same thing about all three 'keepers I have got here… I am thinking Darren, my gut is going Darren, but I think I am going to have to go Adrian. You know what, I am going Darren, I feel Darren is commanding, he knows his box and in every game I have played with him he is just reassuring. Like when you are in there for the corner, he is constantly speaking, in training the saves that he pulls off are just unbelievable.

Right back I am going to go for Jack Hunt. Defensively he is quality, but going forward he is always a threat. I played with him at Nottingham Forest and the amount of assists he gets a season and the amount of times he beats a player…definitely Jack Hunt is going to be my right back.

Winston Reid will be my left-sided centre half. Headhunter, that is what I call him! He just goes hunting for the ball and wins it every time. One-on-one defending, nobody beats him, and he definitely pops up with some important goals as well. So a quality centre half and up there as one of the best in the Premier League.

James Collins will be my right-sided centre half, an old-school centre half, commanding, you know what you are going to get. Ruthless, flies into challenges, throws his body on the line.

I will go for Aaron Cresswell, who has a magical left foot, balls into the box are quality. He’s done it the way I’ve done it and has established himself as one of the best left backs in the league.

My holding (midfielder) is Morgan Schneiderlin, who I played with at Southampton. It may have been League One, but he has made his way up into the Premier League and is a quality player on the ball, calm, composed. You always can trust him and you always know he is going to find you with the ball.

Powerhouse Cheik! When he drives down the line, there is no one getting the ball off him. It does not matter how fast, quick or strong you are because you are not faster, quicker or stronger than him! He is box to box, scores goals, defensively breaks things up, he needs to be in the team.

Manu Lanzini, magical, a magical player. We have him and we have Dimi Payet and those two together have got all the tricks and the vision that we need. And if those two are on form, then we are going to win the game.

In training, if they are on the same team, then it is going to be hard and it is very hard to stop them, but we just double up on them! There is always going to be a spare man on their team!

On the right, I am going to have to go for Adam Lallana. It does not look like he is quick, but he manages to just glide past players, he does tricks so slowly, but it always works out! He just has got both feet, shoots with both feet, crosses with both feet and now and then he gets goals. So when we were playing in League One, all the Premier League teams were trying to sign him and he stayed with Southampton and worked his way up into the Premier League. And now he is at Liverpool and playing for England. A quality player who I enjoyed playing with.

Do I need to explain why Dimi is on my team? I do not need to explain! He is hands down the best player I have ever played with. His free kicks, feet, awareness, willingness to work for the team. The only thing I need to see him do is score a header!

My striker up top is commanding, I am going to have to go for Shane Long from my time at Reading. Not the biggest man, but somehow wins the majority of his headers, tireless worker who never stops running for the team and he gets goals.

Opposition View: Norwich City

Show/hide article…

The Canaries host Saints in the third round of the competition tomorrow afternoon, with Neil believing both clubs have more pressing matters to consider.

However, he is still expecting a competitive game and is confident his side will be strong enough to give their opponents a good test.

“I want to be clear about it – the league is our priority,” he said, with his team currently ninth in the Championship. "We really need to make sure we get ourselves up the league.

"I’ve said this in all the cups, our main priority has been the league and improving that, but we want to win the game and that will be reflected in the team.

"You’ll look at the team and you’ll know that we want to win. I think I made 11 changes at Everton [in the EFL Cup]. It won’t be anything like that. If anything, it’ll be a couple here or there.

"They’ve got a semi-final first leg on Wednesday as well, which in my eyes would take priority.

“It’s an opportunity for them to get to a final, so I certainly think they’ll be freshening the team up.”

Telephone: 0151 556 1878

Capacity: 27,010

Website: www.canaries.co.uk

Nickname: The Canaries

Away Supporters

Away fans are housed in the Jarrold Stand at Carrow Road. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased from 12.30pm at Carrow Road.

Getting There By Car

Carrow Road is well signposted from the A11 and A47, being a short drive from either dual-carriageway.

From the southern bypass of the A47, take the A146 road into the city ahead of turning right at the traffic lights towards the city centre on the A1054.

At the roundabout, take the right hand lane to continue towards the city centre along the A147 before turning right at the next set of traffic lights onto King Steet.

As the street bends to the right and crosses the river it becomes Carrow Road, with the football ground clearly visible on the right.

Car Parking

Access to car parking on matchdays is restricted to permit holders only.

The best car park for away supporters is Norfolk County Hall, which is signposted on the left of the A146 and costs £7. This holds around 2000 cars and arriving early is advised to get a good spot so that it is quicker to get away at full-time.

Getting There By Train

Norwich Train Station is situated around 10 minutes walk from Carrow Road.

Turn left when coming out from the station and follow Koblenz Avenue to reach the stadium.

Alternatively, supporters can walk straight over at the traffic lights through the Riverside Leisure complex.

Coach Travel

Coaches will depart St Mary’s Stadium at 7.45am, Eastleigh at 8am, Winchester at 8.15am and Fleet at 8.45am.

Jaïdi disappointed with Reading result

Show/hide article…

Although Saints found themselves 2-0 down after just 14 minutes at Hogwood Park, Jaïdi was pleased with the way his men finished the opening half.

“It’s a disappointing result,” he explained.

“Obviously we gave away two sloppy goals at the start and then we started to catch up on the game from there.

“The last 25 minutes of the first half were our best. We controlled a lot of the game, worked on our distances and pressed and created some great crossing chances.

“We spoke to the boys at half time and told them that they needed to continue the way they finished the first half.”

Saints continued to put on a much-improved display during the opening exchanges of the first-half.

However, despite the performance, it was the Royals that extended their advantage just ten minutes in.

“We created more chances, but didn’t score,” Jaïdi continued.

“We had a great chance at the beginning of the second half but missed it. Then straight after we conceded another sloppy goal and gave away a penalty.

“That’s not acceptable at this level. You get punished as soon as you are nonchalant, so that’s something we need to work on in the coming weeks.”

GOSSIP: Saints lining up bid for Liverpool defender Sakho

Show/hide article…

Saints are lining a swoop for out-of-favour Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho, according to a national newspaper.

The 26-year-old Frenchman has been linked with Saints, along with a number of other clubs, as Liverpool look to offload him.

The rumours come after the news that Saints captain and centre back Jose Fonte has submitted a transfer request.

Norwich City v Southampton

Norwich, without the banned Robbie Brady, may rotate their squad, with Michael McGovern set to start in goal.

Defenders Steven Whittaker and Ryan Bennett, midfielder Alex Pritchard and forwards Josh Murphy and Kyle Lafferty could also feature.

Saints boss Claude Puel is also expected to shuffle his pack and give chances to younger players.

Captain Jose Fonte’s transfer request may rule him out. Virgil van Dijk, back from a ban, seems unlikely to play.
