Saints will be looking to earn themselves an advantage this evening, ahead of the trip to Anfield in two weeks for the decider.
Davis has no doubt about the role that the club’s supporters can play.
"They can be huge,” he said. “They can create the atmosphere and push the players on.
“We know they’re capable of doing that. I think they’re a little bit frustrated with the games recently, but it’s important that we put that to the back of our minds, that we all stick together and really go out to try to make it a special night at St Mary’s.”
With Saints without a win in their last four, Davis added: "Listen, I think we’re all hurting over the results the last couple of weeks. It’s been a difficult period for us, but it’s important that we stick together. That’s going to be the biggest factor.
“We know we’ve got the quality in the team to go and get results on a consistent basis.
“This is a great opportunity for us, to be in the semi-final. Hopefully St Mary’s will be rocking.
“The fans are desperate to see us in a final, so if everyone can stick together – fans, players and staff alike – then we’re confident we can turn that run around and go and get ourselves in a positive position again.”

Southampton and Liverpool face off in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash with both sides looking to edge one step closer to Wembley.
St Mary’s hosts the match, which pits Claude Puel’s out of form Saints against the Reds, who sit second in the Premier League table.
The two sides played out a goalless draw in the same fixture earlier this season, but Jurgen Klopp has enjoyed plenty of success on the south coast during his time in England, including a 6-1 win in last season’s EFL Cup quarter-finals.
Jose Fonte will play no part in the clash after handing in a transfer request at Southampton. The club captain is not expected to feature under Claude Puel while the January window remains open.
So, who has been selected for the match? The confirmed teams can be seen, in full, below…
