Spurs boss Pochettino still in ‘constant contact’ with Rodriguez

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez has hailed Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as “the best coach” he has ever worked with.
Rodriguez flourished under Pochettino during the Argentine’s spell at Southampton between 2013-14.
The 27-year-old won his first England call up as a result of his stellar club form in the latter stages of 2013 but suffered a serious knee injury in April 2014, from which he has only just returned.
Pochettino left Southampton for Spurs during Rodriguez’s spell on the sidelines but he is still in contact with the forward, who was one of his closest lieutenants on the South Coast.
“Mauricio is the best coach, best manager and best person I’ve ever worked with," Rodriguez told the Telegraph.
“He knows how much I appreciate what he has done and what he still does for me. He constantly speaks to me.
"It is nice to hear that he is still supporting me and his staff are the same. He just wanted to improve you as a player and a person.
"He was always seeing things in a game that you were weak at but he also gave you that belief that you are a good player. He was an unbelievable manager and a person,” the striker added.
Southampton have struggled to retain the nucleus of the squad which performed so well under Pochettino and secured an eighth place Premier League finish in 2013/14.
Jose Fonte is the latest player to be linked with a move away from St. Mary’s but Rodriguez is confident the club will continue to progress, despite having to endure regular departures.
"Football players come and go and move on but, as long as you stick to the philosophy of the club, I don’t think you can go wrong.
"The club is going forward each year,” he insisted.
