Monday’s matches in the inaugural Southampton Cup once again produced plenty of goals and great performances.
One of the most anticipated games was the clash between Chelsea and the Football Kenya Federation in the Under-14 Academy section, as the eight-day festival of football continued on the south coast.
The Blues responded brilliantly to Sunday’s loss against Porto by beating their opponents 6-1.
The scoreline was harsh on the Kenyan side, who performed far better than it suggested, but they were up against an impressive Blues outfit.
Chelsea now sit three points behind Porto, after they maintained their perfect record with a hard-fought 2-0 win over their Isle of Man counterparts, featuring a goal in each half.
In the Under-12s Academy section, Bournemouth also kept up their excellent start, as they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1.
They had to come from behind to do it, though, having trailed 1-0 at the interval, before striking three times in the second half, to follow up their opening 6-0 victory over Plymouth.
In the same group, Southampton’s Under-12s kept pace with the Cherries, as they beat Plymouth 2-1 to back up their 4-1 victory over Brighton in their opening fixture, setting up a decider with Bournemouth for top spot.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Ian Wright says Arsenal should do their utmost to sign wantaway Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move away from the south coast club all summer and handed in a transfer request on Monday.
In his statement, a fiery van Dijk hit out at the club and rebuffed any suggestion that he had refused to train.
It now looks certain that the defender will leave with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City all likely destinations for the 26-year-old.
However, Wright believes Arsenal should be throwing their hat into the ring.
“We haven’t signed the players that people are constantly talking about, who are going to lead Arsenal,” said Wright on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"At some stage during the season they’re going to need those players and that is where the test is going to come.
"Now it’s Leicester, Stoke and Liverpool just to start and the pre-season hasn’t gone fantastically.
“I would have definitely tried to get van Dijk. I would be going in very strong.”
Wright also believes Arsene Wenger should have tried to sign Nemanja Matic.
“To see that Matic has left Chelsea and gone to Manchester, can you persuade him to stay in London? He’s in London, he’s settled, can you get him to come to Arsenal because that is what Arsenal need. That player. That type of player.”
Jamie Redknapp insists it is an “absolutely certainty” that Virgil van Dijk will leave Southampton.
The Dutchman has handed in a transfer request with Liverpool and Chelsea leading the race for his signature, despite the Reds publicly climbing down in June.
Redknapp , who played for both Liverpool and Southampton during his career, doesn’t think he will play for Southampton again, reports the Liverpool Echo.
It is believed the Reds will wait to see whether Southampton are now open to selling their star man before launching a bid, but former Liverpool captain Redknapp believes it is just a matter of time, and that van Dijk cannot be blamed for taking this stance.
"He goes, it’s an absolute certainty,” he said. “He won’t play for Southampton again.
"He has put in a transfer request and I think that probably suits Southampton. Let’s be honest, I was there for a short time, Southampton are a selling club. If you have any ambition to be a top player you leave Southampton.
"Victor Wanyama, Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, everybody else has gone. They paid £13m to Celtic for van Dijk and they will get close to £60m, they will get a fortune for him.
"I don’t blame Virgil one bit. This is what happens in football. He will already know how much he could get at Liverpool, how much he could get at Chelsea, this is what happens in football.
"He has probably already spoken to the managers. He could probably earn three or four times his Southampton money at Liverpool or Chelsea, so why wouldn’t you want to go and play for a better club?
“I don’t see any way Virgil van Dijk is a Southampton player once this window closes.”
Speaking on Sky Sports’ new show The Debate , Redknapp added the pull of Jurgen Klopp will see van Dijk opt for Merseyside over London.
The player had opted to join Liverpool earlier in the summer, which led to Southampton threatening to report the alleged illegal approach to the Premier League.
"It’s a difficult one. There’s the pull of London, for a lot of players that’s a big thing,” Redknapp added.
"But from what I hear Jurgen Klopp is a really big pull for him. He wants to play for Klopp and Liverpool need a centre-back desperately.
“Chelsea’s need is not as strong and I think he will go to Liverpool.
"But I’m also surprised Manchester City have not gone for him. They must really feel Vincent Kompany can last the season.”
