Mauricio Pellegrino believes positive results will come Southampton’s way if his side continue to play with the same attitude and spirit.
Saints were three games unbeaten prior to Saturday’s defeat to Burnley at St Mary’s – a game in which the visitors were holding on for a point, only to snatch all three courtesy of Sam Vokes’ late winner.
But if Saints continue to dominate games then wins will be an inevitable consequence, according to the boss.
“The conclusion we can take is that we can dominate a game from the beginning in our way,” Pellegrino said.
“I will defend our style until the end, because I think playing in this way with this spirit, the results will be coming.
“I can’t say anything about our attitude or our spirit because we did everything to try to get something from the game.
“We created chances, but we couldn’t convert them.”
Sam Vokes headed a late winner against his hometown club as Burnley added to their impressive points haul on the road by grinding out a 1-0 win at St Mary’s.
The Wales international striker, a boyhood Saints fan, climbed off the bench to meet Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s inviting cross with nine minutes remaining.
Iceland international Gudmundsson picked up the ball on the right wing and his inswinging cross was guided into the bottom right corner by Vokes.
Sean Dyche’s men have now taken 11 points from their opening six away league games having already won at Chelsea and Everton and drawn against Tottenham and Liverpool.
It was a smash-and-grab job on the south coast after Southampton dominated the match, albeit creating little as their struggle for goals continued.

Defeat at home to Burnley on Saturday left fans and players alike frustrated, as Saints slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League.
But, for the Portugal international, there is only one way to respond – and that is by being positive.
“I’m always positive, even if it’s a tough moment,” Cédric explained after the loss to the Clarets.
"When it’s a tough moment you can see the great players – even if someone whistles against you or something like that, you need to keep going and keep believing in yourself.
“If you work so hard to be in this club and to achieve this level you need to keep believing in what brings you here, so I think that the great players definitely show up in these tough moments.”
