McQueen reflects on scoring contribution

Show/hide article…

Expertly dispatching his free-kick from 25-yards, with enough dip and swerve to fool Albion’s 'keeper, McQueen put Saints in command, a position they continued to hold thereafter.

Explaining that he had recaptured the “enjoyment” after last night’s winning performance, the defender also expressed his desire to reenter the first-team picture, with Matt Targett currently out on loan at Championship side Fulham.

“I enjoyed it a lot, the most I’ve enjoyed a football game for a while,” McQueen said gleefully.

"A good group of boys, and we played some good stuff. It’s been tough to get minutes, the three points makes it all the more enjoyable.

"I felt comfortable and it was nice to be playing left-back. Matty [Targett] is at Fulham now, so I also need to continue to learn that position and develop.

"There is a bit of confidence there, and because I was enjoying myself, I performed better. Enjoyable moments, and remembering the things I need to work on to make the first-team regularly.

“Being ready is the key term, Bertrand obviously has been fantastic all season. And I’ve got to be there just in case there is any need for me. Keep myself fit and sharp and hopefully I’ll get an opportunity.”

WATCH & VOTE: Premier League goal of the round

Show/hide article…

There were some brilliant goals scored in the Premier League at the weekend, but which was your favourite?

Danilo netted the first goal of the weekend when he gave Manchester City the lead against Burnley with a curling strike from outside the box.

Jose Izquierdo and Mario Lemina both scored from distance to help Brighton and Southampton record victories over West Ham and West Brom respectively.

Another goal from Brighton’s win over West Ham makes the cut - Javier Hernandez’s fantastic finish for the losing team.

We have also picked two goals from the Monday Night Football clash between Watford and Chelsea from Eden Hazard and Daryl Janmaat.

But was Victor Wanyama’s thunderbolt in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool the goal of the weekend?

Watch the goals in the video above and vote in the poll below…

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard tops Power Rankings

Show/hide article…

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has topped the Sky Sports Power Rankings this week - but who else made the top 50?

Hazard weaved through Watford’s defence to fire a late equaliser - his fourth goal in five league games - before Antonio Conte’s side capitulated to suffer a 4-1 defeat at Vicarage Road.

Sergio Aguero retained his runner-up spot in the chart, despite failing to score during Manchester City’s 1-1 draw at Burnley, while team-mate Kevin De Bruyne re-entered the top 10.

Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock and scored a Messi-esque solo second during a thriller against Tottenham on Super Sunday.

However, Spurs’ Harry Kane netted his 100th Premier League goal from the penalty spot in second-half stoppage time to salvage a 2-2 draw - having missed a spot-kick eight minutes earlier.

Southampton duo James Ward-Prowse and Jack Stephens were among the top performers after scoring during the Saints’ 3-2 win at West Brom, with the former netting the match-winner from a free-kick after team-mate Sofiane Boufal had sought to take charge of the set piece.

Despite failing to score at the weekend, Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson and Swansea forward Jordan Ayew both edged into the top 10 with stellar match stats during a 2-1 win against Stoke and 1-1 draw at Leicester, respectively.

The Power Rankings methodology reflects a player’s performance over the last five matchdays by awarding points to players for 32 different stats.

Below, we present this week’s Power Rankings, your club’s top points scorer and the accumulative season rankings.

The Sky Sports Power Rankings will be updated every week during the season, so be sure to keep an eye on the big movers…

Ranking every Premier League club based on the atmosphere at their home stadium - from worst to best

Show/hide article…

Jose Mourinho has landed himself in hot water yet again after calling the atmosphere at Old Trafford ‘quiet’.

The Manchester United boss was speaking after the 2-0 win over Huddersfield and even admitted the atmosphere at Portsmouth’s Fratton Park was better.

Mourinho has previously criticised the Stamford Bridge atmosphere while in charge of Chelsea, so perhaps there is a common denominator here?

Regardless, it got us thinking at talkSPORT about which club can lay claim to having the most atmospheric ground in the Premier League.

In the gallery above, we have ranked all 20 of the clubs in the English top flight by the atmosphere.

Every Premier League team ranked by their disciplinary record this season, from cleanest to dirtiest

Show/hide article…

Another Chelsea player was sent off on Monday night.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was dismissed just half-an-hour into the Blues’ 4-1 defeat at Watford that heaped the pressure on head coach Antonio Conte.

The red card was Chelsea’s seventh of the domestic season, meaning only one other team (Grimsby Town) have had more players sent off in 2017-18.

But how does the Stamford Bridge club’s disciplinary record compare with the rest of the teams in the Premier League?

Using the Football Association’s Fair Play Table, you can see all 20 top flight teams ranked by the disciplinary points they have totalled this season, from lowest (cleanest team) to highest (dirtiest team).

Click the right arrow, above, to see the full ranking…

*Disciplinary points calculated from all domestic matches played in 2017-18. A caution is worth four points; denying a goal scoring opportunity or a dismissal for two cautions is worth 10 points; violent conduct, serious foul play, spitting or offensive and abusive language is worth 12 points.
