So how the hell did that happen and how do I delete it back to normal Windows Browser version? It happened after an update about 3 weeks ago

https://twitter.com/home

Is the link in the browser tab

Yep. That’s the correct link.

It’s possible that the App has associated itself with links that resolve to twitter.com (but I’ve never seen that before).

Try deleting the the app.

To do that, do this…

  • To remove an app you got from Microsoft Store, find it on the Start menu, press and hold (or right-click) on the app, then select Uninstall .

…taken from here:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028054/windows-10-repair-or-remove-programs

Uninstall the windows app and see what happens :man_shrugging:

The windows twitter app is crap anyway

OMG, I’ve just found it :bulb:

@Polski_Filip Go to twitter.com, sign in, click on your avatar, scroll to the bottom, click ā€œswitch to legacy twitterā€

Yay!
I wasn’t being a total dummy, it WAS a shit update from Twitter!

Went to their feedback page and gave them a completely dissatisfied rating and in comments said I just hated the new layout.

Phew!

Thanks guys!

So did I, so did I

@saintbletch Not sure if this is right place but having an issue on S9 with the gifs. Have had a recent update so may be that. No issue on PC.

I can reproduce it on the PC so I will report it. Working overseas at the moment (IoW) so might be a few days!

As you will have noticed, Bertie has mutated and has taken on the form of a Twitter bug.

The symptom is that if an embedded Tweet (a onebox as it is cunningly known in the trade) has an embedded media item (typically a video) it will sometimes fail to display and is replaced with a message along the lines of ā€œmedia cannot be playedā€.

We (the brains trust) think we know what it is - Twitter limits the amount of time it gives to sites such as ours to access their servers. We seem to be exceeding that limit.

This shouldn’t be happening as a) we’re not a busy site and b) we’ve created and registered a ā€œTwitter API appā€ with Twitter that should give us greater access to their servers.

Twitter recently changed how these Twitter API apps are created so what we are seeing MIGHT be related to that.

I’m currently trying to get permission to gain access to the developer site to create a new app using the new way that Twitter recommends, to see if that cures the problem. But somewhere between Twitter, @pap and me we’re not able to gain access.

So, no need to keep telling me where you’re seeing the message from here on in. II’ll update you when I know more…
