I would have voted for Khan for stupid reasons, had I lived in London.
In fact, I reckon most Star Trek fans in London would have voted for him, irrespective of political allegiance. The opportunity to go full Shatner whenever one is dissatisfied with an aspect of city administration would have just been too fucking tempting.
I didn’t vote for Khan because I thought he would give me cheaper tube/bus fares. The fare for a single journey on a bus is already less than one in Southampton. So I am fairly happy with that.I pay for my travel card for a few zones and for how much I use it I am pretty happy.
Oh good, well as long as you’re OK then…
Isn’t that how it works?
Well, if I’d have put that on about or the NHS or anything like that, I’d have been destroyed on here. So yeah, it can be if you want it to be, but I’d expect you to get the same short shrift others would get.
It’s not a big thing for me at all, I pay for my trains through my company so I spend less anyway. It’s for the normal Londoner that has to deal with high rents and high prices on general, they vote for someone who tells them he can freeze the price of their commute and they vote for him. 4 weeks later it turns out he’s a liar.
Labour MPs submit motion of no confidence in Jeremy Corbyn
Posted at12:00
Labour MPs Margaret Hodge and Ann Coffey have sent a letter to John Cryer MP, chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party, submitting a motion of no confidence in leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The letter calls for a discussion at the next meeting of the PLP at 18:00 BST on Monday 27 June. This ballot has no formal constitutional force, but would be a significant expression of the lack of confidence of Labour MPs in their leader.
It is up to Mr Cryer to decide whether or not to accept the motion and allow it to be debated.
If it is accepted, it would be followed by a secret ballot of Labour MPs on Tuesday 28th. It would require a simple majority of MPs to support the motion for it to be passed.
When pap gets back from glastonbury and finds out that Corbyn is gone, Cameron is gone, Brexit is happening, and the new manager Jack promised us never materialised, he’s gonna be so like, wtf srs. It’s been a big news week, and he hasn’t been able to draw a single meme about it RIP
Jeremy Corbyn has “to take some responsibility” for the UK deciding to leave the EU, Labour former minister Caroline Flint says.
She accused him of providing “nuanced messages about the EU” that were not as positive as they could’ve been. She also criticised “his refusal to engage in questions about immigration”,
Ms Flint said she wasn’t surprised that some of her colleagues were backing a motion of no confidence in Mr Corbyn. She said it was possible a general election could take place within six months and her worry is that another party may fill the gap in heartlands where Labour had once prospered.
She said both Mr Corbyn and his predecessor Ed Miliband had “to step up and discuss properly and honestly why we’re not reaching people”.
At Labour’s parliamentary party meeting on Monday, Ms Flint says she wants Mr Corbyn to acknowledge the problem and explain what he is going to do about it.
Well I am surprised this hasn’t been resurrected yet. Good old Labour, the perfect opportunity to put the boot into a divided, weakened Tory party and they throw themselves under the bus.
