Breaking news from Westminster: Anti-Corbyn Labour MP @ jreedmp quits parliament triggering fresh by-election http://huff.to/2hqKU4c

This will be an interesting test - a tight seat, should be a good indicator whether Jezza is the second coming or as shite as his MPs think he is

It’s very interesting. Reed is interesting in quite a few respects. First off, he’s unusual in that he’s a right wing Labour MP in a safe seat and he’s actually from there. Whatever else you might call him, he’s not a geographical parachutee. Ideologically, he’s miles away from the people he represents, never more so on the issue of the EU Referendum.

He was one of the MPs calling for Corbyn’s head after the country voted to Leave, saying that he didn’t do enough. This is despite Corbyn convincing two thirds of his voters and 71% of his own manor to Remain. It’s also worth pointing out that Alan Johnson, leader of Labour’s Remain efforts, managed just 14 media appearances on the EU to Corbyn’s 120+ talks on the topic.

Jamie Reed himself did dreadfully, convincing just 37% of his own people to Remain. He’s off to work for Sellafield now, which is an interesting illustration of the man’s integrity. Eighteen months ago, the plant was criticised by unions for awarding contracts to non-local firms. He had this to say.

The unions make a strong case for better involvement from Sellafield Ltd with the local supply chain.

This must happen. At the same time we need to go further.

For 10 years, I’ve worked to change the relationship between the industry and the community to one of a better, more functional partnership with the industry understanding and acting upon its unique responsibilities.

Let’s hope they don’t let him near anything dangerous, eh?

The thing i found strange, was him going on about needing to be with his family. Looking at the ages of his kids, it would appear he fucked off to Westminster when they were about 2 and it’s taken him 11 years to realise, he should spend some time with them.

Of course, a tight seat, they may lose, would be beneficial for Corbyn critics. Multiple ways to play this as a negative.

They’d be mental not to put up a Eurosceptic candidate.

All the best to both of you. Hope you get to see the game on Wednesday. If it’s a Wednesday baby and we go through can you call it Cluade(tte)?

Cluadette is certainly an unusual name though it does have possibilities.

Yes, ees very intressing.

Who says Jeremy Corbyn doesn’t do sufficient research…?

Every time she is lured in front of a camera, Diane Abbot does a good impression of that bumbling taxi driver who was interviewed on Breakfast TV by accident.

Quite a busy few weeks for me on the political front. Momentum meeting tomorrow, going to campaign in Copeland for the by-election.

Does this mean Labour are in trouble due to you campaigning?

Thinking of going to heading to a local meeting re Brexit this weekend.

Labour are having a tough time over Europe - 11 front benchers and , more incredibly, three whips defying a three line whip.

if Jezza has to replace half the cabinet again, how on earth are they supposed to be a functioning opposition? No sooner has someone got there feet under the table, they are off again for one reason or another, . How are they supposed to master their briefs?

Fair play to the shadow ministers who resign before defying the whip, like to know why the others don’t feel honour bound to do the same. Jezza has to sack them, especially the whips, otherwise he is giving a tacit nod that this sort of behaviour is acceptable. He won’t though.

Number of left-wing people in London down to three

13-02-17

THERE are currently only three left-wing Londoners, it has been confirmed.

Tube strikes, Labour party infighting and being immersed in a consumerist, conformist nightmare are thought to be the key reasons for the collapse of leftist views in the capital.

The number of left-wing Londoners had stood at five including Jeremy Corbyn, but staunchly socialist bus driver Norman Steele and his wife Miriam moved to Stroud at the weekend. Meanwhile service industry workers are now all shipped in from the Midlands in tired old school buses with threadbare seats.

Londoner Emma Bradford said: “Like most younger Londoners, I pretend to hate the Tories but am secretly obsessed with money and would think nothing of spending £25 on a massive burger if that is what’s required to look impressive.”

Brand manager Tom Booker, who lives in Brixton, said: “I can’t believe everyone in London is a selfish bastard like me. What is the world coming to?

“Sometimes I buy a pair of trousers, wear them once and then burn them for no reason, just because this environment has made me insane.

“My friend Leo seems pretty left-wing and he lives in Tooting. Well he’s not exactly a friend, he’s actually my coke dealer, but anyway.”
