MoPe's Barmy Army vs. The Song Thrushes

Goal of the season.

Agree with most of this. Would much rather see Boufal than either Tadic or Redmond.

Fourstar is shot to bits. He badly needs to be dropped, sold or put out of our misery.

Having listened to most of the match live (at 4am in Oz) and seen some v brief highlights, it sounded like we deserved the win completely and that the last two substitutions made a real difference. The goal was indeed brilliant.

I have missed two games while away dealing with a family issue, which have produced three goals :lou_surprised: and four points. No need to thank me.:innocent: I will be back for Burnley so let’s hope for continued Boufalness.

Never seen a bar full of foreigners react to a Saints go all like that before. It was as if time stopped for the replay silence fell then various language versions of wow.

We’d had an epic trip but until then the game was dragging our mood down and ducked of I’m forking out Ā£40 In bar bills to watch this shut again had become the norm.

Today? Were still grinning even while battling Wizz Air check In queues.

What a weekend what a moment.

Le God is dead. Long live Le Boufal.

Looking forward to Sims getting fit.

Sims + Boufal > Redmond + Tadic

It certainly would take something really special to beat it that’s for sure.

I was a bit surprised with Pellegrino’s comments afterwards when he said that Boufal is a great talent but he is young and must wait for his chance. Why? It’s not as if we have an abundance of players capable of scoring a goal like that is it. Long? Tadic? Redmond? I don’t think so. Boufal’s debut goal for us in the league cup was nearly as good i seem to recall. The run and through ball to Charlie in the dying seconds would have been the assist of the season if it had a fraction less weight on it. Surely if you have a player capable of these sort of skills you have to find a way of fitting him in the team. His reaction after scoring, running to Pellegrino and making this point, might be considered a bit over the top but it was understandable. The lad is clearly desperate for game time to show what he is capable of. It would be madness not to give him a run in the side after a cameo like that, in place of Tadic, Long or Redmond. One thing is for sure, if we don’t, come January or next summer, someone else will.

Goal of season will be won by anyone form the top 6… because if its MoTD GOTS, then its voted by public and always goes to player at club with most armchair fans… so would not hold breath…

Will be interesting to ses managers reaction -does he see it as ill discipline or asnatural emotion reaction to frustration - that can be chanelled?

My first thought also.

If he can’t find a way to channel that kind of desire(and skill) he’s in the wrong job.

Lemina… might be asking too much, he has to be given more freedom in an attacking sense - he could be our Toni Kroos/Pogba if played a little further forward. his defensive and winning the ball back skills and work rate, make him potentiall our bets complete footballer… he has potential to be a Kross level one day.

As for Boufal… well up until today, I saw him has our new Farbrice Fernandez- small pockerts of skillful promise let down by running in circles or softly losing out in every tackle… so MoPe has been right (IMHO) to use him sparingly… he needs to do more consistently if he wants tofeature more… we need aplayer with Boufals skill and Davis’s workrate and wewould have 80mil player our hands… (which Lemina could become)…

Bit of news from my source at SMS: Kicked off big time at team meeting this morning, apparently Pellegrino is FURIOUS. Boufal fined 2 weeks wages and warned about his future conduct.

It weren’t so much the goal reaction, but Boufal had 6 or 7 opportunities to lay the ball off sideways, or pass it back to Yoshida or Forster like he’s sposed to, and Pellegrino was even shouting at him from sidelines, ā€œSofiane! SLOW DOWN!ā€

Completely ignored. As Pellegrino says, running straight at goal like that you don’t give the opposition a fair opportunity to reorganize their defence, which is very unsporting and not The Southampton Way. Be surprised if we see Boufal again tbh rip.

If I was a manager I would be looking for someone to come out and show why I should put him in the starting line up. He did that big time and his reaction showed how much it meant to him. We need that passion in our team. If MP knows what he is about he will now harness that passion.

Thank fuck for that. I was getting RSI from starting so many mantch threads and am pleased to have a rest, especially as I now don’t have to start the Brighton thread. Thank you Boufal, got me out of jail there you fuzzy-faced little beauty.

Poorly phrased on my part. I meant, after he scored that goal I’m almost prepared to forgive him for being shit. Like, for his entire Saints career to date.

WTF?

Sit down.

NO - SIT DOWN!

Frazer Forster is in the Fail’s team of the week…

I reckon Boof will be on the bench at Brighton. The Pelligrouts will lose their shit. Boof will be thrown in to show himself. It really is up to him. He has to roll with his hype and step up.

Where is the Brighton match thread then chaps?

I will be away on holiday for a couple of weeks after this one so it would be a risk if I started it and Boufal didn’t run around all of their players and score the winning goal again.
