This is leveled out by everyone else being in the same situation.
A nice little take on proceedings from the Guardian:
To be resolutely fair to Southampton, they should have had a consolation to make it 4-1, but VAR spotted that Fred and Harry Maguire were offside, or something, we donāt know any more, and it might not be too much longer until nobody cares. Also, the penalty that sparked the late three-goal flurry that turned a mere garden-variety thrashing into Thundering Humiliation II was fairly soft, while the second red, for Jan Bednarek, was a Mike Dean speciality.
Everyone else has the same number of players out? Nope
Spot on. And we have appealed the red of course. Because it was bollocks
Havenāt seen that confirmed
Club not said it directly but the usual informed media have clearly been briefed.
I asked Ralphā¦
ādo you think United will score tonightā
He repliedā¦āNeināā¦
And I thought he was talking German !
See that the club are reporting racist abuse is being aimed at our players after last night. FFS
Sorry @Bucks I moved your post as it was hidden in the other ones, anyway here is the Clubās statement on the matter
No apology needed. Shameful news
We are all disappointed with what happened last night, but it is just a football match and there can never be any excuse for people to dish out racial abuse on the back of it. I hope the scumbags who did this get named and shamed and banned from the club.
I just donāt understand what is up with people - is it the anonymity of social media that instantly transforms these people into wannabe hard men.
I do wonder if these people are genuinely racist or are just spouting bile because they calculate it will hurt
Probably a bit of both tbf. The innerweb is like the Wild West for all shades of fuckwittery
Thatās one of the reasons itās so unhealthy, and really is best avoided. There are plenty of other reasons.
Know your audience mate.
Bednarek red card overturned
Yes I know @Polski_Filip posted elsewhere but needs it here as wellš
One final thought on the game. I wonder what difference it would have made it there had been a full crowd there?
Iām sure the Saints following would have helped us. Can you imagine the grief Dean would have been given, especially after the Bednarek red?
Playing out the last 15 minutes in a silent stadium must have felt utterly empty and meaningless. Even taunting MU fans would possibly have pushed us to fight for pride.
Not really important, just a random thought.
Iāve been saying this for ages, how often do you look at the dayās results and see all or nearly all away wins? Iāve pointed it out a couple of times here. Wednesday was a case in point, five games, five away wins. There was another evening quite recently when I noticed four or five away wins and no draws or home wins. Itās got to be down to the missing fans.
