Liverpool vs Southampton Match Thread - 7/5/17 K.O. 13:30

I love that shot of Forster towering over Milner and asking him how he thought the penalty would go!

Great save.

Funny how Klopp didn’t mention that his own keeper should have been sent off…

Lol and how nutmeg’d him with his foot and made to scuff the penalty spot

Beeb pointing out that before yesterday Klopp & Brendon had identical records.

Brendon won Klopp drew their next games so klippity is officially worse than Brenda

EDIT:

Here is the link

Before Sunday’s game against Southampton, current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and ex-boss Brendan Rodgers had identical Premier League records after their first 65 games in charge of the Reds: W33 D18 L14 (117 points).

We know Klopp drew his 66th game against Southampton.

How did Brendan do?

He won his.

And worse record than Moyes at United.

Where the hell did THAT Frazer Forster come from yesterday?

The bloke is more timid than a field mouse and yet will now forever be appearing on Motivational Posters as being a complete monster who psyched out a Veteran footballer.

I know some asked for Saints to show some fight yesterday but fark me, to see it from FF?

Still in a state of shock over it to be honest, has someone been doing that Psyche/Hypnotism shit on him?

Or did he just have one of those days???

I have it on good authority that FF and Milner have a history of sexual tension from England duty. FF and Milner were a bit flirty in the old days, and then when JWP got called up to the senior squad things started to get tetchy between our Fraze and Milner. Apparently FF didn’t like the way Milner was looking saucily at JWP, who Fraze considers his ‘bit of posh’, and that’s why FF was so fired up to save the Milner penalty. AND YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.

By the way, in terms of the match I thought only one team turned up to try to play proper football and it wasn’t us. Sorry, it was a good tactical performance, but we offered absolutely nothing going forward. Having said that, I’d def take a point at Anfield so I’m happy enough. But it was an utterly shit footballing performance from us yesterday.

Good to see we defended very well. Good to see we’re not above winding up Scousers who are stepping up to take a penalty.

Shame we seem to have forgotten to give poor old Gabbiadini some service. Shame we can’t put the “counter attack” into, well, counter attacking football.

But a point is a point. And i love the fact my Liverpool supporting mate was so apoplectic with rage after the game he called us “poofcunts”, an insult that is both new to my ears and quite against his usual considered behaviour.

Contrary to what others are saying about Fraser’s advice to Milner before the spot kick here is the lip-read transcript:

Fraser: Bit harsh don’t you think little man…not a pen.

Milner: Au contraire mon ami

Fraser: Ooo I love it when you talk dirty to me.

Milner: Haha…no it’s Spannish Fraser, for this one’s going into the bottom right corner.

Fraser: Thanks for the info little man. In return I think you should remember the last two pens againts me ended in embarrassment for the taker. Just, (Fraser prods the penalty spot with his foot) make sure the spot is securely attached. I pissed on it in pre match warm-up. Good luck (Fraser winks)

Milner: Gulp.

I’d love to know what FF said to Milner. Hopefully it was along the lines of “Don’t fuck it up, mush, you’ll look a right twat if you miss.”

I can understand why Puel is look at CB partnership of Yoshida & Stephens, and think fk, we’ll have to sit back here, those cunts will need a lot of protection. But that Liverpool team yesterday was Garbage, and if they try that again on us next year, lining up with Lucas & Can & Milner & Origi & Wijnaldam & Lovren we will squash them like a fkn BUG.

're sportsmanship by goalkeepers it happens a lot. I remember Grobelaar’s tactics for Liverpool in a Euro Cup penalty shoot out.

Also I went to the match v Inter Mian at SMS last Nov and when we were awarded a penalty Inter delayed the penalty and acted up in such a way that we missed the penalty kick.In the end it did not work as we won when they scored an own goal.

Bert rand made Garth Crook’s team of the week

I haven’t had a great deal of positive things to say recently but I have dug deep and will say the following…

Fair play to Forster, he has had an objectively ‘indifferent’ season shall we say, but yesterday he had a great game. Not just the penalty save but also the fact that he caught everything and came for everything in the air. I also love the aggression/intimidation that he showed when putting Milner off. He properly alpha’d out. I think we are guilty of being too nice at times as a side, so that was a welcome change.

Yoshida was also excellent. I am not his biggest fan but he had a great game yesterday, his positioning was good and he and won most things in the air.

Cedric and Romeu had good games as well.

Those were the standouts for me.

As @numptyboi has said above, I am hoping for an equally solid defensive display against Arsenal but with a lot more offered going forwards. Clearly finding a balance is key here as is selecting the right personnel for the job. I don’t believe Gabbiadini has had a proper attempt at goal in the last few games. The last one probably resulted in Romeu’s goal against Chelsea.

Tactically Im looking forward to a solid defensive display that doesn’t invlove the whole team. With a bit of luck we will see some attacking. Maybe if we play a CB with Champtions league and world cup experience it will help free up our forwards. Just an idea I know it sounds crazy in this climate

your obsession with MC is bordering the ridiculous (that’s if you’re not just trolling, which I haven’t ruled out). Yoshida and Stephens have been excellent. They’re not the problem and replacing one of them won’t suddenly turn us into an attacking force.

Yoshi doing a dab or whatever?

Quiet man

I dont think Stephens and Yosh is a good enough CB partnership. It is failing us in terms that it needs the whole of our midfield to help it out for the whole ninety. Meaning we struggle to score
