That answers the question as to why you think that Corbyn should kneel on this occasion. My question was actually whether anyone should be expected to kneel before another person and, if they should, then why?
Queen be like, oh shit dawg, i hope this old beardie ain’t bout to propose.
I would do if I respected them enough. Does not happen often…
Super. But it has happened. Who have you bent down on your knees for out of respect?
But seriously, it’s a respect to the tradition, like calling a current or ex president ‘Mr President’.
No it’s not. It’s tacitly validating the idea that one human being is better than another by dint of what womb it came out of, and in what order. My pet idea is that being monarch is apex of the honours system, a measure of how much someone has contributed to British society, than the apex of the class system, the immutable reminder to know your betters.
Bollocks. It’s a ridiculous way to choose a head of state and I’m not entirely sure what we’re supposed to have respect for. Surviving life when constantly protected by guards and suchlike, and provided for by the taxpayer? Holding a family together? There are large families on sink estates that are more functional, and more coherent, with less potential paternity scandals.
It would be pretty sweet tho ifhe done it anyway & while his head was bowed Queen severed it with broadsword and was like, “MONARCH 4EVA!!! DOWN WITH REPUBLIC!!!”
bros like Corbyn don’t think things through tho, is the main problem. If he becomes president & gets rid of the Queen all our coins + banknotes would be immediately worthless & everyone would be effectively bankrupt while they print a whole load more with David Beckham’s face on, or whatever.
As I said in my previous post, it’s a respect of the tradition and this countries heritage, not the actual person.
It’s just an opinion Pap, it’s how we interpret our everyday life. That’s the good thing about opinions, everyone has the right to have a different one, without having to take others on board if they don’t agree. We don’t all have to agree with you.

Did it ever occur to you why people were made to kneel in the first place? Back in the days when you could actually get killed for saying we shoulldn’t have a monarch, or questioning the legitimacy of the monarch.
It’s a tradition borne in violence and submission.
Tradition is just another word for “it is the way it is”. Given that you cannot demonstrate any examples of you kneeling to someone you respect, I’d have to say that you don’t have any time for that tradition either.

I appreciate the patronising statement on the quality of opinion so much that I’ll offer one of my own. Opinions have much better quality when substantiated.
I’ve never met a member of the Royal family, so I have never had to bow, get down on one knee etc, but I wouldn’t not do it. I’m well aware what it is borne out of. If you were in court prior to 2013, I assume you wouldn’t have sworn on the bible? It’s tradition, but it would compromise many people’s principles.
The main issue with this is that people get so up-themselves on what they stand for and their ‘principles’. Getting down on one knee in front of the Queen is not a big thing to do, and it seems a little pathetic that people wouldn’t do it, bit that’s my opinion. I’m not a royalist, I couldn’t give a shit about whether they were here or not, but I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to be rude or show a lack of respect for them. But with these ‘principles’ comes great responsibility, because if you so much as even slightly compromise any of your others, you look a muppet. See Morrissey as a great example of this.
The biggest thing though, is that if Corbyn is going to go this far to get out of doing these things to live by his principles, then ANYTHING he does to compromise this he should be smashed with. Any policy that goes against anything he’s said in the past - even if it is to appease some of his party, any act, anything. He will be eaten alive.
I can remember when as a nipper the queen was visiting Rothchilds at Exbury estate and we had to go and stand at the end of the drive way with our aunts and uncles and parents for about an hour until the entourage drove past at about 60 mph down those narrow lanes. luckily we never blinked. Cow never even waved.
I think this week has shown the power of the collective in addressing some of the smears; the out-of-context Cameron pic and video demonstrating the precise debating tactic being used, without actually being offensive.
Funnily enough though, the mush who posted the image has said that someone has already reported him for hate speech.
Yup, but even that 1/7th (25,000+) is a massive boon in political terms and 1/6th of the entire Tory membership. Rather rubbishes some of the arguments of supposed disengagement.
FWIW, I’m not a Labour supporter so no agenda here.
Though we seem to have stemmed the virulent anti-Corbyn strain in these parts, the disease seems to have spread, verbally, to other parts of the Internet.
