It probably won’t matter anyway in the long run. If England do lose today they will almost certainly fail to advance beyond the group stage, with 5 wins from 6 needed against India, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Netherlands. Even if we win today, 4 out of 6 from that list looks unlikely the way we have been playing.

Goatboy should make a pitch to join Sky as a pundit, a pretty much perfect prediction and summary of the outcome. I can’t begrudge the Afghans their win though, a huge result for them as could be seen from their reaction when the final wicket fell. Made up for them.

Sri Lanka batted first and were doing well but then had a collapse of England proportions, 125-0 to 209 all out.
Australia are currently 70-2 from 11 overs so one would assume they’ll walk this one.
