248-2 after 40 overs
Kohli 50 from 51 balls, it’s been a patient innings from him
305-4 from 46.4 overs
It’s raining in Manchester so they’re off
And there we have it
336-5 off of their full 50 overs.
I can’t see Pakistan getting close to the total. They’re keeping wickets in hand but they’re already slipping way behind on D/L. And I wouldn’t bet against more rain.
This is the weirdest end to a game…
I missed it what happened?
How the fark does 336 off 50 overs become a DLS target of 302 off 40 overs?
The DLS method is tried and tested. Now and again it throws up calculations that look bizarre, but they’re based on a full statistical analysis. Before this, targets were adjusted on a simple basis of run rate, with the result that the side batting second had a massive advantage. I’ve seen a full explanation of how DLS works, the only problem being that I don’t remember it. But it’s there in Wikipedia if you care to have a look.
Look at the run rate that confronted Pakistan at the time that play was suspended, alongside the wickets that they’d already lost. Were their chances of making 337 runs better then than making 302 off the 40 overs that became available?
No idea, I was doing a 4 hour road trip just saw the final figure. Makes sense though if they’d been off
After a rain break that looked like it would finish the match, with Pakistan miles behind the rate, somehow an extra 15 minutes was found to bring them back out for another 4 overs (after a lot of people had gone home) needing 26 per over to stand a chance.
Felt like the sensible thing would have been to just call it a day, but I’ve since had several people explain to me the crucial importance of net run rate. Which, y’know, I guess…? Whatever the reason, it all ends up looking a bit of a farce.
And there you go, Net Run Rate has NZ above India

In theory, a Bangla win or a no result could be helpful to us…
West Indies are 30 for 1 with 41.1 overs left
Gayle went for a duck.
Lewis gone, 70 from 67
122-2, 24.3 overs
Pooran holes out trying to hit a six back over the bowlers head

Bangladesh are doing well to restrict them IMHO
give
322 runs to chase.
This is turning into a belter.
Bangladesh are going for it hard.
Shakib 6000 runs in ODIs
Bangladesh are 108-1 from 15 overs
