Back in 2009, my mum had just got tickets for Michael Jackson at the o2. I was home from uni for summer, and being the nice young man I am offered to drive her to some motown thing at Wembley.
On the way, we were talking about said MJ show. I remark to her “Those gigs are never going to happen Mum”. I drop her off, get home, stick on the news.

Couple of years later, I’m at a local bar with some friends (honest, I do have a few!!). Back to Black comes on, and I turn to my friend and say, “It’s such a shame what has happened to her. I really don’t think she’s going to last long”.
Next morning, I wake up hungover as hell. Stick on the news

Well back on topic…very sad to see one of the most influential figures in popular music culture pass. Not only that, he seemed a jolly decent chap. RIP George.
