Hull City Away Build Up and Match Thread

Did I miss the memo where Davis went from being a pivotal low-key part of what we do, to a liability who qualifies for free bus travel?

It must have been on the same one where Yoshida was promoted from hate figure to reliable utility player…

very funny Rallyboy. Guilty as charged!

This. As recently as his late appearance against Milan, for anyone who was at the game they saw a class act at keeping the ball under huge pressure and still carving out excellent passes that cut 2/3 Milan players out.

Bletch wouldn’t know then :lou_is_a_flirt:

BTW are you talking about Davis or Yoshi or both?

I was disappointed with the Hull result but let’s get a grip.

Thursday-Sunday games means we have to rotate the squad and at some point we were going to come unstuck.

Yes we could do with another 15 goal a season striker. So could almost every team in the Premier League.

Ditto a goal scoring midfielder.

I like the way we are playing and we are creating plenty of chances (though not so much this sunday).

We will improve. We will finish in the top half. Hopefully we can challenge for a cup and keep our European run going.

I’m going to enjoy a Prague piss up and not worry too much.

if anyone thinks people have lost the plot on this thread, they should take a look at the SWF version of it. Those people are fucking bonkers.

Just looked at the BBC stats and we had 19 shots, 7 on target, of which Marshall save 6. We also hit the bar once (which is counted as not on target by the BBC).

I remember 3 or 4 good save that Marshall made, with the rest tame shots right at him.

Wasteful Saints pay the price

Southampton shots on goal

It ended up being a busy afternoon for Hull goalkeeper David Marshall as Southampton pushed for an equaliser late in the game. After conceding from Charlie Austin's penalty (yellow square), Marshall responded with a string of saves (highlighted with red circles). The visitors also hit the bar (blue circle) and finished the match with 19 shots on goal, seven of those on target.

BTW thay had 2 shots on target!!

That is the crappest edition of Blockbusters I have ever seen.

I’ll have a right back and a striker please Bob

I made the mistake of reading the match thread a couple of hours ago and have lost the will to live! :lou_facepalm_2:

It’s a post-Brexit hypernormalised world. The lunatics are running the asylum.

Yup - a reminder why we’re not over there much any more

I went to this one - one of those results where we battered them but didn’t convert our chances (especially in the last few minutes) - they had two chances that both went in.

These results happen. We had enough of them in a good way when we were staging great escape after great escape season after season. We’d get battered but keep them out then MLT would score a free kick

If have that much of the play in games we’re going to win a lot more than we lose.

The only concern I’d have is Forster. He’s not in good form. It’s like Stekelenberg last season - teams have two shots all game and score twice. If McCarthy was fit a change might be a good idea

The only thing that is bugging me at the moment is

inter Milan 1 shot on target 1 goal

burnley 1 shot on target 1 goal

hull 2 shots on target 2 goals

where it seems to take us a fair few more to convert. This is my only bug!

You make a very good point Kev. Our underwhelming attempts to goals ratio is clear to all but it’s these stats which are the biggest concern for me.

Our defence has a reputation of being a solid unit and as recently as last week Jamie Rednapp (or someone ?) was waxing lyrical about it. Yet recent stats paint a slighly different picture which is strange when a month ago we went 6 or 7 games without conceding (for the second time this year)

Playing our possession based game, the oppositions chances are going to be limited but that’s as much down to the defensive midfield qualities of Romeu, Clasie, Davis et al, as anything.

We just need our defenders and GK to be a bit sharper and keep focused for the rare occasions the opposition do threaten.

Overall I’m pretty happy with how things are going … a couple of signings in the window wouldn’t go amiss tho’ :lou_wink_2:

I saw the game through one eye as I was hungover and getting back on it, one eye was bad enough nevermind two!
When we went behind we didn’t look like we were ever going to score, we have to stop passing for passing sake and we desperately need pace on one side of the park, trickery is all well and good as long as it comes off once in a while in a game as when it doesn’t you look like a tit (Tadic), pedestrian and slow we need pace into our game on occasions when needed, a plan b.

Yeah, sadly, I was right.

Poor guy has done his cruciate, by the looks of it. Speedy recovery to the guy. I feel his pain.
