As I employ people that get a living wage in the area that they actually live in. how is that different from Richard Branson employing anybody to work for him in the countries that he has businesses?

How to ensure that the new posters know about these systems has fallen by the wayside and because they can curse and scream ad infunitem (spelling) they are doing so. Which is detracting from what the international commmunity of Papsweb was trying to do.

Only last night I was saying how pleasurable it had been to be able read and write posts without personal insults or attack, whilst all around me bedlam is breaking out! I should have realised it was too good to be true 
I have up voted quite a few posts this past week (after all, my name is Smiler and I do tend to take a rosy-eyed view on most things), but so far haven’t bothered with too many down votes - with the exception of the post in which someone said they had hoped the other person had died, which quite frankly, says so much more about the poster themselves and I simply couldn’t ignore. Looks like the down vote is going to get a bit more use in the coming days if this is going to continue. What a shame.

To be fair, I did hope he had died, but then I also think that of people like Putin, and would have of Hitler and the like. In my opinion the world would be a better place without him. It’s why I’ve asked Pap a number of times for an ignore function.

Can I remind the membership that I’m looking for down-votes before I intervene. I haven’t seen masses of them on this thread despite the fact that I, personally, don’t like the abuse.
One member who has been with us for a while has asked to be removed from the forum because of the personal abuse they feel they’ve been subjected to in this thread.
We value free speech here. We allow the membership to steer the moderation.
I have nailed my colours to the Remain mast, pap has nailed his to the Brexit mast, if we were to intervene without the mandate of down-votes, then we would be open to accusations of bias.
This is an emotive subject, tensions will rise and tempers will flare. That’s healthy.
What is not healthy for the forum and each of your memberships, is irrevocably putting personal insults into the permanence of a post.
When those tensions and tempers have subsided, those insults will remain and divisions and animosity will have been created that will surface over the rest of your time here.
If you believe the insult is worth it, go for it. That’s free speech for you.
If you don’t like reading those insults, down-vote the post. It’s easy. It’s anonymous. And it’s the way to start a process of moderation that will keep this forum the friendly and thoughtful place it (largely) is.

Cuntish behaviour can kill a forum, hopefully you can stay on top of it without stifling debate.

Pray tell let me put your mind at ease, what exactly are you worried about? If you reside in Europe, registered to work,live there nothing will change. The status quo of you being reactionary and chippy will remain. What Country do you work in? Nevermind there will be a huge number of people there regardless of where it is wanting a vote on reform or exit from it.
