Has the Brexit argument been effectively won so

I agree Cameron is done and so, for that matter, is George. However I’m not sure that Boris is the shoe in that everyone thinks. I suspect we will get an outsider (eg priti patel or andrea leadsom). Although I did see a poll which has Gove winning at a canter :lou_surprised:

Deliberately omitted George. He hasn’t a chance, f’sure.

Should the Tories win, who will form his govt - well, probably those that he campaigned with. I.e. the more right-wing factions of the Tory party. Boris, Gove etc. All of whom don’t have a great track record of looking after the people, and who many of them have spoken about their desire to dismantle the NHS.

Is that last bit truth? I srs don’t listen much to politicians, but I can’t really picture them saying omg, you know what I’d really like to do? Dismante the NHS. You’d think they would be more sneaky than that.

Sorry wasn’t finished, pressed post by accident.

I dunno, I can’t see it being Gove. He doesn’t exactly have a great support base of his own, and has fucked up most things he has touched in govt.

I can understand there may be some twitchiness from within the party about going for Boris. He’s getting ever closer to Trump by the day. But ultimately, I just don’t think there is anyone really strong enough to wrestle away the position for him - especially in the case of a Leave vote, which he has effectively lead the campaign for. Once it got to ‘public’ (members) voting I just cannot see Gove having a chance.

Just as a reminder, the options on the ballot are Remain and Leave.

Not, as some seem to think, “Sound” and “Fascism”.

I had to battle for years on Saintsweb, oh to be vindicated.

I’'ve learned a lot about the centre left during the course of this debate, Barry. Not all of it pleasant.

Very good, carry on.

Good holiday Bazza?

An Honest ballot paper would say “Fucked” or “More fucked”, with no trustworthy guidance as to which one is which.

oh dear Pap, please dont fall for this bollocks… there is a HUGE diference between The far right voting for Leave and Leave being only about the far right - you know it.

The issue is that because the far right are voting Leave they will gain a mandate for much much more draconian immigration policy - based on years of spreading lies, fearnd ignornace and that I can’t stomach.

You have decided that the greater threat is from ‘unelected’ centralied Government… that is your choice, but for me, the thought of what UKIP and the other RIGHT stand for is abhorant, and nothing will convince me to go that direction because of it.

Or a ballot paper that says I support these guys TODAY on this, but tomorrow they need to earn my support all over again on what they have planned for us next.

Congrats! Who’s the dad?

And there was me thinking we also had elections for Euro MPs. Must have been down the polling station for some other reason two years back.

One of the biggest misconceptions seems to be that faceless politicians from other countries are solely responsible for imposing unjust laws on us poor Brits.

any trouble getting the fetus through passport control? Just what we need, another fkn economic migrant. Can’t wait till Brexit.

Did you vote for Lord Hill?

Oh, I’m sorry. For a moment there I thought I was Michael Gove or Nigel Farage. Those are the names that keep coming up. I must be like them, right?

Ask yourselves how the EU does against Tony Benn’s five democratic questions.

In the course of my life I have developed five little democratic questions. If one meets a powerful person–Adolf Hitler, Joe Stalin or Bill Gates–ask them five questions: “What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? And how can we get rid of you?” If you cannot get rid of the people who govern you, you do not live in a democratic system.

Like forcing junior doctors into a contract none of them want, forcing them to fight it through strike action and in the process showing Joe Public what a bunch of asshats they are for your cancelled operation?
