Barry wisdom - so smart it is unintelligable to us mere mortals - one day when old and wizened Iwill be able to decipher the above with ease, until such a time, can someone please translate as I dont speak this particular dialect of idiot
Basically Barry called KRG naive and idealist because he is young.
Yes I see it now… but ishe not making a rather naive assumption? Afterall it it rather naive to to base such a claim on a few posts on an anonymous web forum - where not everyone choses to protray their true selves at all times? Papsworld is full of deceit and cunning masked character…

It is intrinsic in my being, my purpose, this forum gives me reason.
Even I will acknowledge that I chuckled to myself on this one. You are still a cunt though

And nor should you. I seem to remember you laying a large charge at GA’s feet which you refuse to defuse. However, I do have a grudging respect for your “keep truckin’” style, Baz - so there’s that.
Back on topic, I’ve had a look at the press this morning. The Guardian is saying that other European nations are shit scared of the domino effect that a Brexit may cause. I just don’t buy that line of reasoning. The only way other European nations exit the union is by referendum. They only do that if they want to. They only want to if they’re unhappy with the EU.
Closer to home, we’ve got Juvenile Unit #1 back this weekend. She’s a Remainer, ms pap is undecided and we’re both putting forward our own arguments. Sunday dinner is going to be interesting
They got to have referendums, but what the politicos are worried about this the people of those countries saying if they can do it why can’t we and either getting their way or voting in someone who will let them.
Some interesting vids on the subject.
The view from Gibraltar, dune’s favourite place.
Daily Politics piece examining the track record of economists when they’ve predicted economic doom before.
What annoys me more about the in or out campaign is that it is all the negatives about the opposition and very little on the benifits of staying or leaving.
Pap have a word while you are out in that field!
I think it’s fair to say the the campaign so far has produced massive amounts of heat and fuckall light. Others have posted much the same on this very thread and on the other EU one too. So it’s good to see something emerging that at least attempts to put a positive message out there. The fact that the people behind it include Yannis Varoufakis, Caroline Lucas and John McDonnell makes it all the better, from my point of view at least.
Varoufakis also wrote a fairly short opinion piece for the Guardian on this same subject. It’s a bit slight in that he makes assertions without providing a great deal of backup for them; whether this is down simply to constraints of space I don’t know. Certainly Varoufakis has the intellect to back up the points he’s making.
Anyway, here’s the article.
As much as anything else, I find it highly refreshing to see a case for staying in the EU being made from the left, and that said case is actually based on a positive vision for the future.

To say that the Daily Politics piece is slight would be an almighty understatement. So, 364 economists said back in 1981 that the government’s monetarist policies were wrong, but apparently the economy started growing “just days later”. OK, very nice analysis, but it didn’t grow for long.
What happened to the economy from 1981 for several years, not just a few days? A fucking great recession, massive rises in unemployment, poverty and hardship not seen since the 1930s. That’s what happened. I graduated in 1983 and I remember all too well how the job market looked at that time, in the prosperous south-east. Barren is a pretty good word for it, moribund would be another. It’s also worth noting that the government of the time was forced to backtrack on their original monetarist dogma, frantically inventing new means of measuring money supply because the last one didn’t work (when the M25 was proposed nobody was certain as to whether this was a new motorway or yet another new means of measuring money supply). Still, I bet those 364 economists who penned a letter pointing out the flaws in monetarist economic policy feel like a right bunch of cunts if they’ve watched that clip.
It’s not hard to find examples of predictions made by economists turning out to be incorrect. It’s even easier to find such examples if you choose to focus on one small aspect and use that as total proof of the veracity or otherwise of the original prediction.
Varoufakis fails to answer the same question he did when Finance Minister of Greece.
How?
There are only two options on the ballot paper. Leave or Remain. One of those outcomes is going to leave the EU wondering what it does next. The other is going to be a validation of much that it has been doing. This would include telling Varoufakis and his democractically elected pals to fuck off when they had the audacity to ask if Greece could have a financial deal that it _might _be able to pay back.
If the EU is unwilling to reform itself when its own citizens are starving and putting kids into state care, I fail to see how this gigantic tent for business and banking will suddenly, or even gradually, become a progressive utopia.

I introduced the vid without any context - so I wasn’t really using it as proof of much apart from the fact that at each economic milestone, we’ve had people scream blue murder about forecasts, impending doom and suchlike - this referendum is no different.
Shrill ain’t necessarily real.
Save our NHS?
Strong report this morning, but if true then huge!
TTIP is coming up time and time again. It’s relevant to the EU in the sense that it’s the sort of thing that the EU Commission could push through without a great deal of fuss. However, I would point out this news story, which seems to indicate that the NHS will be exempt from the TTIP deal.
TTIP, and deals like it, really need to be seen in the context of whatever the fuck the Americans are trying to do now. I’ve been watching political debates all weekend on Brexit and other matters. The US has a raft of deals like TTIP on the go for each part of the world. It is aiming to create a protectionist commercial and military empire with itself at the centre.
