120-4 at tea.

Crane 28 from 192 balls. Often had 5 / 6 close-in fielders for company. Vince on 14 from 70.

Hashan Amla-Crane out straight after tea. 28. One short of career best.

Sadly the others have not been watching Crane’s heroics. Dawson lasted 7 balls and went for zilch, McManus for 17 and scored 8.

138-7

161-8, 11 overs to survive…

Fecking BBC, this

Hampshire (163 & 177-8) trail Yorkshire (243 & 312-6 dec) by 216 runs

Eight overs to go in the last match standing.

Kyle Abbott’s already been in the wars in this match unable to bowl for long periods with a foot injury, now he’s taken two painful-looking blows to the body off Matthew Fisher as he continues to dig in.

James Vince (42 not out off 149 balls) pats him on the back and encourages him to keep going.

Then this :-

Amazing in that last over, 10 men around the bat but Hampshire survive.

The ladies T20 finals day today, first up are Northern Diamonds v Southern Vipers.

And in real cricket. Hants 34-1. Weatherley failed again.

Wheal playing, but Abbott Crane and McManus replaced by Organ, Fuller and Abbas. Alsop keeping.

McManus out due to covid, which caused the hour delay. Presumably while the others got tested.

Collapse time.

Alsop, Gubbins (3rd ball) and Holland gone. 48-4.

Dawson has forgotten how to bat. Just smacked a wide half volley to cover. Same as Gubbins.

51-5. Brains scrambled.

89 all out. Eeek

But the age old rule of don’t judge the wicket until both teams bat… Warks 11-4

At least Rob Key won’t be complaining that Hampshire should be used to that sort of pitch…
