Hampshire Cricket 2017

Great to see match won by a combination of two young, home-grown spin bowlers. Nine of the second-innings wickets shared between Crane (5-40) and Dawson (4-66).

After Friday’s fare I’d sort of given up on this and it’s only when I was talking to my friend in the pub last night that I learnt Hampshire had actually won.

I thought he was winding me up but no they actually won!!

Maybe they are employing this as a strategy, they did pretty much the same thing aginst Yorkshire in the first game.

Awesome batting by Adams & Ervine 474-6

Probably a pudding pitch tho

Matt Salisbury is on a trial period, having left Essex 2 years ago due to injury. He did ok in a 2nd xi game, but was surprisingly picked ahead of Reece Topley for this game.

He comes on first change today and gets Hain out caught behind with his first ball. Ian Bell hits the 2nd for 4 and then gets out LBW to the 3rd.

That could lead to a contract.

Warwickshire 19-3.

And now Ian Holland gets a wicket in his 2nd over on debut, bowling Ambrose. 22-4.

Jonathan Trott was playing yesterday, but is not at the ground, for reasons not yet given. Thus they are a batsman light for the time being.

Warwickshire trail Hampshire by 396 runs with 3 wickets remaining

119 - for7 wickets(50.0overs)

Not good. Last thing we need is their tail wagging for 50 overs or so - that then wears our guys down for the follow on.

Bell & Trott standing firm

Hampshire 515 v Warwickshire 254 & 41-2 f/o

Into the closing eight overs of the day at the Ageas Bowl and Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell are doing their best to keep Warwickshire in the game.

The former England Test top order pair came together at 9-2 in this follow-on and know they have plenty of work to do to stave off an innings defeat.

They’re still 220 runs behind.

Close - Warwickshire trail Hampshire by 186 runs with 8 wickets remaining

1 day to bowl them out

A good mornings work by Hants from the look of it

Clarke gone now for 0!!

Can we beat the rain and chalk up another victory?

Hampshire 515 v Warwickshire 254 & 120-6

Hampshire’s bid to beat the rain continues and Kyle Abbott is in the wickets again.

Rikki Clarke is the next man trapped leg before without scoring and Hampshire are now just four wickets away from an innings win.

Hoorah! My weather update was just read out on Solent!
