I don’t say this lightly, but I think there’s a chance we could finish at 6pm at the Oval today. We are through 30 overs already, and there’s 16 minutes til lunch!
Yeah, the cricket’s not all that interesting. Hampshire 484 for four and just ticking runs off on the way to 600.

Well we have had a pretty boring morning here at the Oval, all remorseless Hampshire accumulation on a pitch that looks dead (won’t judge until Surrey are 80 for five). Lots of overs of spin mean we got through about 35.5 of the things, which is great. The umpires are pretty much running from the field. Put them out of their misery! 497 for four. Wicket! Berg has Roy lbw and the day just got slightly aesthetically pleasing! Think he was just trying to guide him down to third man and maybe it nipped back? Gone for 27, but a pretty nice 27.
All very well but it will take time to grind Surrey down on that pancake of a pitch and it’s 28C at The Oval today - hard ask to bowl them out twice in two full days if they follow on
