Warks 8 down now. 190 scored.
202-8 now, 1 batting point a-coming their way, fecking Lancs bowlers probably chugging in with their dibbly dobblers…
Third batting point for us 302-4
First for Warks 207-8
Updated table with current bonus points
Team | P | W | L | D | T | Bat | Bowl | Deduct | Points |

Lancashire | 15 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 0 | 39 | 37 | 0.0 | 164.0 |

Warks 219 all out - that’s four bonus points they can’t get
However Lancs have 3 bowling points now…
Team | P | W | L | D | T | Bat | Bowl | Deduct | Points |

Lancashire | 15 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 0 | 39 | 38 | 0.0 | 165.0 |

Nottinghamshire | 15 | 1 | 8 | 6 | 0 | 34 | 41 | 0.0 | 121.0 |
I’ve stupidly assumed Hampshire will get another 3 runs to get the next batting point!!
Good assumption Bob - 352-5
352-6 FFS
I won’t tempt fate but I would observe that if I supported Warwickshire I would be quite nervous now…
If they lose they will most likely finish on 160 points.
If we can get to 400 and draw the game we will most likely finish one point above them.
The next 43 runs are vital…
You can’t keep away can you, can’t you find something better to do for the next 3 days?
I feel lucky…
But (its a big but) if Warwickshire do go down, they will just wheel out the Birmingham Bears instead, right?
370-6 at the close off of 97 overs
so 30 runs for the final batting point from 13 overs = 2.31 RPO
Been offline all day, but glued to the radio. This is getting damn tense and could easily be settled by the odd point.
Like you say, RB, we could really do with getting pass 400 and securing maximum batting points, which could see a draw being enough for us to avoid relegation (if we collect maximum bowling points and Warwickshire lose)
It’s worth bearing in mind, though, the following from the BBC website:
If teams finish level on points, most wins determines placing, then fewest defeats , then most points from head-to-head results, then most wickets taken, then most runs scored.
If we draw and Warwickshire lose then both teams will finish the season with 2 wins, but we will finish with 3 defeats as opposed to Warwickshire’s 5 defeats.
Therefore, according to my calculations, even if we fail to get all five batting points, a draw and 12 points could see us level with Warwickshire, which would be enough to see us safe!
Anyway, 370/6 has been a really great effort today from Hampshire. We need to push on tomorrow and get as many runs as possible; with the wicket showing signs of turn there could well be the opportunity for Crane and Dawson to bowl us to victory. Phew, I thought County Cricket was supposed to be boring.
If you’d asked me this morning to write down the best scores we could realistically hope for in the two games then it wouldn’t have been too far away from that!
Good day Hants - three more please
Hmm, showers over lunchtime tomorrow…
Was thinking much the same. Don’t think we could have hoped for much more today. If we can get the magic 400 pretty quickly tomorrow, then knock up some additional runs as quickly as we can, we’ll be very well placed indeed - five points to the good, the best part of three days to play and in with a great chance of a win.
Warwickshire missing out on four possible points is the icing on the cake.
The real bonus is we have got ourselves into a position with the two games where a draw might even be enough…
Lancashire need to step up and as Richie Benaud would have said, bat the shit out of Warwickshire.
A great day. Possibly due to me being unable to go.
I wont be going tomorrow.
Nor Thursday.
Or Friday.
That should be enough to keep us up, although I do miss not playing Leicestershire and Glamorgan
