Of course
Itâs taken me 25+ years to wean the present Mrs C_S off off slathering everything with gravy.
Sheâs a professional northerner so doesnât know any better tbf
Later that day
Polish firepot - had a fire bomb party.
Mrs P_Fâs English is going the same way my fledgling Polish did
She has been suitably punished & keeps screaming Bon fire.
May take the electrodes off by Wednesday
Itâs your birthday, you need sprinkles, lots of sprinkles anâ candles ân cake!
Simple can be good. Thai salmon fishcakes from scratch, home made chips, the rest was frozen. Tasted good, though.
Chilli Mac ânâ Cheese
Prepared for a house party tomorrow night, cheese to be sprinkled on top thenâŚ
Alas I used chilli powder not real chillis, I hang my head in shame.
Decided to take today off because I couldnât be arsed to deal with fucknuts.
Spent the morning putting together a desk for Mrs C_S to work from after wfh from the kitchen table since the original lockdown (and is now only going back occasionally)
Anyway, thought Iâd make a start on prepping for the BIR lamb madras for tomorrow by stewing the mutton.
Followed this recipe.
Itâs a meal in itself tbf and the lamb is curry house tender (& loads of stock to freeze)
Good times.
Lamb madras was a bit disappointing- followed the recipe to the letter. Had all the tastes and spice level, but lacked the âfullnessâ of a normal takeaway - Maybe not enough salt or perhaps would benefit from using ghee?
Any ideas?
Mrs C_S and YoungAdult#2 liked it (top of their spice range though)
YoungAdult#1 had a taste while it was cooking and microwaved a Korma frozen from last weekendâŚ
I confess I had a takeaway Nepalese tonight, and it was superb, as ever
For anyone in the Gloucester area, Nepalese Chef in London Road is highly recommended.
Bangers and Mash with onion and mushroom gravy.
Nice one!
Always use Ghee.
Courgette freshly picked from the edge of the âswampâ washed well.
sliced into about 6 or 7mm inch slices.
Dip in whisked egg (runny not gluey) with salt & pepper, then dip in Breadcrumbs.
Fry in hot oil in a pan turning when just a bit more than golden.
Remove from pan onto Kitchen Roll, add just a little bit too much freshly ground rock salt, eat while almost burning your mouth.
Delicious. Picks tomorrow IF the internet works!
I did think that but the chicken tikka masala and Korma were both fine.
Apparently lime pickle gives it more of a savoury flavour than the mango chutney in the recipe. Iâll try that first.
Favourite niece came to dinner last night. Usually tricky as she is veggie. Cooked Angela Hartnettâs Lobster Mac & Cheese. Horrifically expensive but totally gorgeous.
Sirlion steak cut into strips
Marinated in
Onion garlic ginger soya sauce salt & pepper.
Fried for a few minutes put inside a freshly heated Tortilla wrap.
Lovely.
Which part of the lion is that cut?
The mane bit?
The best bit of course what do you expect from a disadvantaged ex-pat ?
