âThe night ofâ is pretty darned good ⊠Has a bit more câter development than the usual US procedural cop show shit. It looks amazing.
âhe fucked me up the arseâ - Anal sex gags to loneliness⊠guilt, and hopefully redemption. Episode six was tough to watch⊠funny, yet so bittersweet⊠superbly acted, intelligent and thought provoking⊠and anal sexgags
Obviously donât get those types of shows down here, but can I say a huge well done on behalf of us all to Bearsy on winning something called CBB.
Just started watching this now⊠good so far, like you say really well acted
Watched The Watchman with Stephen Graham on Channel 4 the other day.
It was a one-off, hour-long drama about a CCTV operator who, when the police arenât interested, gets involved in the fixing the wrongs he sees people do.
I thought it was well written and acted, and had an unusual ending that left me thinking for days.
Stephen Graham is excellent, as are most who come from the Shane Meadows stable.
Originally passed on this one on Netflix as I thought it looked a bit too much like a kids show, you know a bit like âRound the Twistâ, but after seeing a few of you speaking good things about it I decided to give it a go. Iâm about 5 episodes in and Iâm enjoying it so far, darker than I thought it would be and a pretty good soundtrack too, especially the John Carpenteresque opening titles. The 80âs setting also fits in with my re-visiting of 80âs TV, as Iâm also currently re-watching Hitchhikerâs Guide to the Galaxy and Ulysses 31 on Youtube.
Just spent the last 2 hours on a bus driving through the Yorkshire Dales on a nice bright summer afternoon. courtesy of BBC4. Pleasant memories of several photographic holidays in the '70s, '80s and 90s usually in the winterâŠmust do it again.
Yeah funny I was very late to this ignoring recommendations. Superb although not commissioning Season 4 me at ending was a damp squib I thought
edit: sry not much of a spoiler but removed
Loved Fleabag. All episodes in an evening if you stay up late.
that bird in Fleabag is gonna be A Star. Sheâs like what Miranda would like to be, if Miranda was more talent, and less Fat.
Youâre the Worst is very good and the new season starts in a couple of days.
Other favourites that have probably been mentioned already: Veep, Silicon Valley, Rick & Morty, Venture Brothers, Archer, Mozart in the Jungle, Peaky Blinders, Bojack Horseman and Episodes
I have been watching a really well written animation series recently about a tiny country full of young talking farm animals discovering the mysterious world around them. Some great comedic cameo performances from the bull character and the old dog character. Started by bingeing on season 4, now working backwards.
I think there is talk of a movie!
Archer series five is in the brain.
Iâve become such a fan of this show. Not only is it hugely amusing, itâs also very smart. I donât think Iâve seen another show of its ilk as dedicated to âfun with wordsâ as it is. They spend so much time dicking about explaining words like âliterallyâ and âfigurativelyâ. Itâs time well spent.
The writers deserve a lot of credit for believing in their characters and their universe. While you can watch any show out of order and enjoy it, theyâve no problem getting self-referential or pulling something out from a few seasons back. One of the things I admire the most about it is how consistently good it is.
Season five would have been a disaster in less capable hands. They dispense with the usual spy format and go into full time drug dealing (theoretically - theyâre not that actually very good at it) for an entire season. Itâs called Archer Vice, FFS.
The whole show is chock full of cultural and sexual references. Donât watch it around small children. Much of it really is filth.

Working my way through the box set of Deadwood. Not sure how I missed it when it was first aired but still staggered how it got away with the language all those years ago. I thought the use of the word cunt on TV was a more recent development but clearly Al Swearengen and friends opened the door on that particular vulgarity many years ago.
Cocksuckers.

Fear not cocksuckers, the go ahead has been given a follow up film or two to continue the tale. Anyone not delighted gets fed to Mr Wuâs pigâs.
Watched this last night. Brilliant.
I remember stopping at the highest point on that trip to take pictures in a snow stormâŠjust about made it down into Hawes before the road was closedâŠwonderful for pictures in any weather.
It also champions Kenny Loggins. Regularly. Which is ok by me
Daaanger zoooooooooone!
Iâm currently watching The Night Of starring Riz Ahmed as a man who wakes up after a night with a girl he just met to find that sheâs been stabbed to death. Really great stuff so far, written by the same people that did The Wire and with a lot of Wire alumni too. Good turn by John Turturro as a Saul Goodman type lawyer. Only watched 4 episodes so far but would definitely recommend getting in on this!
