I donāt know who Lady C is? Iām like a culturally ignorant high court judge. Iāve heard of that Lady gaga but not C
Watch Fargo ⦠Just that watch Fargo season 2
For gentle and yet amusing comedy, would recommend āThe Detectoristsā (catch up all of series 3 on iPlayer) - subtle and intelligent, some great writing by āGareth Keenanā
Season 2 of Fargo is just brilliantly excuted perfect TV. Direction, photography, pacing and direction. The 70ās tv use of split screen and funky tv look.
The characters and performances are spot on
Am 6 episodes into this, and iām really enjoying it so far. Very interesting take on an alternate universe which always grabs my attention. Thereās something so creepy about seeing a giant swastika in Times Squareā¦
Random update on the Minge storyā¦
The lads were down for the egg chasing 7s at the weekend, so 12 hours of beer a day we were pretty broken.
Sunday, staring vaguely into space and channel surfing we found the Jonathon Ross Show on BBC Entertainment.
Idris Elba, Sir David Attenborough andā¦
Liv Tyler,
so no, it wasnāt a minge double.
Meanwhile. The Brink, had to be one of the best slap-stick so true to life comedies since Police Squad.
It was a slow burner for most of my mates but they all finally caught it on downloads etc and loved it to death. The episode with the Cannibal Sex mad People Trafficking British Couple in Pakistan was so off the wall it was genius. (As was the Listerine moment in the finale)
Quantico is enjoyable, if annoyingly expanding itās list of suspects every week, certainly a 7 for fit young actresses but in reality only a 3/10 for the way they avoid any glimpses of Bewbs.
Oh, and on the wtf is going on in Leftovers subject.
Liv to Director. āWhat is my motivation for this scene?ā āWhat should I be focusing on?ā
Reply was something to the effect āfocus on nothingā. Even the cast have no idea what is going on
And Wedding Ringer?
How was that NOT the biggest comedy film of the year? Itās a bloody classic.
āI donāt danceāā¦

Ah, excellent - youāre getting to the part where the show starts to pick up, and doesnāt really let up. Very good from this point onward. I donāt want to spoil anything, but you will find your sympathies being pulled in some strange directions too.
Argh! Dont remind me. There a several hours of my life I wont get back. Lady C was a contestant on Iām A Celebrity. A nasty piece of work but weirdly seemed to have Chris Ewbank and Keiran Dyer under her spell. She is an odd fish. Apparently her labia was fused together at birth and she was raised as a boy up to about 18. She finally had an op and has lived a s a woman ever since, at one point marrying Lord Colin Campbell. He divorced her pretty quickly when he realised that she want quite all there (my guess is bi-polar but whatever, she does seem to have a divided personality). She kept that title as she hasnt remarried. She has written books on Royalty (inc Diana) and I guess the producers thought she might spill some beans (geddit?) but no, all she did was abuse some of the other camp mates. Apparently she is famous as being a āsocialite.ā
They just rerun all 8 episiodes of Hunderby the other night which I have duly recorded and will watch over Christmas. There is a two part special coming up staring tomorrow. Cant wait. Genius TV.
Gotham has wrapped up the first half of its second season. Iām pleased they chose to structure the season into two halves; twenty-plus episodes can make arc elements feel somewhat dripfeed. Condensing a big villain into twelve episodes gave more intensity to proceedings. The finale wasnāt as good as the stuff that had preceded it, featuring a Bruce Wayne kidnap plot (we all know how that ends, right) but the arc as a whole is a marked step forward for Gotham, on all levels.
Character performances are much improved, even Selina Kyle, who had a habit of just looking like a bit of doey-eyed scenery in the first season. Quite a bit of progression for everyone too; Bruce starts to become more streetwise and cunning. Jim Gordon finally crosses a line, having had his toes teetering over it before.
The villains were always some of the highlights of the first season; the guys theyāve got playing Penguin and Riddler are fantastic. Some nods to the Joker too, but so far, no conclusive sighting of the Clown Prince of Crime.
Treat it as a good show, and not a great show, and youāll have a good time.
I may have said this already but⦠The last Kingdom is on iplayer and is pretty good Game of Thrones Winchester based methadone.
I know itās been mentioned but my recent pick is Mr Robot. Itās about hacking except actually good.
Grab elements of Fight Club, American Psycho and Taxi Driver, then sprinkle in a little Kubrick and Aronofsky. Smoosh all of those ingredients together and then roll them out to form a well-paced ten-episode series. The showās creator, Sam Esmail, does actually list most of those as influences - but it doesnāt feel derivative.
Also the technical elements are about as accurate as youāre ever going to get with TV.
Tense, convoluted and gripping.
Winchester doesnāt appear to have changed all that much.
At further risk of further infuriating the Marvel-enraged Bear (about to go berserker, Wolverine style) I humbly submit Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as a good show. I know there are loads of superhero shows on the air, and most of the people on this arenāt actually super-heroes, but I am finding plenty to like about it.
If you like any of Joss Whedonās TV stuff, youāll probably like this. Itās not as funny as say, Buffy, but youāll see a lot of the same smart dialogue, and a lot of the actors that have graced Angel and Firefly turn up in this, although not to the point of over-use.
Got some very cool moments in it. Apparently gets into its stride in season three too.
Sorry pap, this needs to be said: you over do the superhero shit.
I know Iām walking a tightrope here, as some have accused me of stealing a certain superheroes look, but Marvel and the lot of 'em can get in the sea.
Thereās just too much of them. Itās boring.
Edit: In my defence, Iām still at work. Iāve been here since 8am and I was on the beers last night. Iām not at my finest right now. Luvs ya really papmeister.
Itās right though KRG Iāve been up since 4.30 am (thanks Gary Monk!) and had a shitty day.
Marvel/DC comics and Star Wars franchises (Now owned by Disney Corp) all look for their āproductsā to have exhibition dominance. Put out films and build a fanbase that squeezes out smaller Independant films from being shown at all. Or funded really.
Still Cable US TV is great, The Leftovers, has been amazing. Probably the last one sadly though as no one is watching it, even HBO might not give them a season 3.
Fargo season 2 is just incredible.
Marvel and DCās dominance did little to diminish other people from making comics. The market is huge, and thereās a great deal of respected stuff that falls well outside the two camps, and they were trying to do exactly the same thing there; keep you in their universe. Besides, the vast majority of stuff hitting the silver screen at the moment is an adaptation of some kind or another. The comic book universe has been barely or poorly mined, considering how vast it is.
The other thing I think youāve got the wrong way around is why these films make as much money as they do. Itās got little to do with building a fanbase, and more to do with having the technology to make films and shows that existing fandom has been anticipating for years.
