🗣 Gigs

Andy Zalzman, tonight, in Wimborne. He actually wasn’t bad, decent stand up show. One of his skits was to take audience questions about the big problems facing us today and put them through his “AI machine” for an answer. You’ll be pleased to hear that I managed ask how Southampton could avoid relegation, and the answer was “some things are beyond the scope of technology” :joy::joy::joy: It then added for good measure that all managers should be dispensed with, leaving the players to work it out for themselves.

You will be further pleased to note that I appeared to be the only Saints supporter in a packed Tivoli. :sunglasses::+1:

Coventry Cathedral tonight, for Everything Under The Sun playing Pink Floyd, using arrangements which incorporated the Cathedral organ.

Wonderful evening. They played an assortment of tracks from Wish You Were Here and The Wall, among others, in the first set. Then Dark Side of the Moon in full for the second set, finishing with an encore of Comfortably Numb.

The cathedral acoustics were stunning, and the organ sounded sublime. As an added bonus, they also used the cathedral’s concert grand for the piano parts, rather than a digital keyboard.

Was fully expecting to be the oldest people there but pleasantly surprised by a good mix of fogeys.

I’m always the oldest at the gigs I go to.

Accurated :lou_wink_2:

Doves tomorrow night at The Engine Rooms? My 72yo mate would be pleased if you’re there with us.

That’s one venue I really can’t get on with. Dreadful acoustics.

Would be nice if it were true. :grinning:

Cant disagree with that. Great gig other than that.

I really would have loved to be at this one, as, I suspect would Scotty. Sounds like they took no prisoners.

I looked briefly at procuring tickets Nottarf. If I’m honest though, I saw them once in their heyday, and again in 2006 at Hammersmith Apollo. Part of me thinks that although I’d love to see them again, I did see Cook and Jones quite recently as The Professionals, and again with Billy Idol as Generation Sex.

What were the odds?

BIC, I assume?

A million to 1, so they said

Indeed it was…

Hawkwind tonight, Bournemouth Pavilion.

Band were good, but it only strengthens my opinion of the Pavilion as the second poorest venue in the area for acoustical quality, only behind the Guildhall.

Engine Rooms gets my vote.

Number three on my list.
