Went to see The Lightening Seeds at The Cavern last night, a warm up gig for their upcoming tour. A mate is the manager at the Cavern and got me a couple of comps. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the Lightening Seeds, some very melodic little tunes with a surprisingly large back catalogue going back three decades. They didn’t disappoint, they were on very good form. Quite a few faces from the great and the good in the North West were in attendance, I had a pint and a chinwag with Johnny Vegas, a real nice fella. He expressed surprise that I wasn’t at home with a mug of cocoa at my age, cheeky sod! The Cavern was bouncing, they finished with a rousing rendition of Three Lions with of course everybody joining in. Highly recommended if they are playing anywhere near you.

Arctic Monkeys at the Ageas last night was decent, I’m not their biggest fan but went along to keep the missus happy and I think I enjoyed it more than she did! Last half an hour especially had the place rocking. Only let down was the bar, pretty much missed the entire Hives set trying to get a beer.

Young Adult is going to see them on Sunday up in town. Using us as crash pad- assuming I get a Father’s Day card…

We saw Elkie Brooks at Salisbury Playhouse last night, mainly because the bird wanted to see it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed it, my God her voice has held up well. Laid back vibe in the first half, much more bluesy grit in the second. Recommended. :+1::+1:

She’s got a great voice, one of the best blues singers this country has produced IMO. Saw Vinegar Joe back in the day, they were really good, her and Robert Palmer were a top vocal pairing.

My first time there and last time I saw him was Hyde Park 2007. Didn’t get wet this time.
