šŸ—£ Gigs

I am meant to be bilingual, I was in the top set for French at school. But had an appalling teacher ( @pap can confirm) who although French didnā€™t really help much. My GCSE French oral compromised of me saying ā€˜jā€™nai comprend pasā€™ to every question. Nailed it.

If Friday night was anything like Saturday then you had a fucking great time.

Another week, another trip to Ally Pally.

Off to see Lorde tomorrow. Obviously, I make no secret about my love for her music.

But krGF is also a big fan, and was pretty gutted we missed her at Glasto (clashing with xx/Radiohead was always gonna be tricky). What she (still) doesnā€™t know is that about the time the Glasto line up came up, Lorde announced a tour, or that her super-awesome-thoughtful-caring-handsome partner snagged her tickets.

That should get me some brownie points, right?

Absolutely. I am the one who gets all the tickets in our house. I also point out gigs he will love and I donā€™t want to go to. Heā€™s seen some Bowie collaborators recently which heā€™s pretty chuffed with but I just donā€™t want to see. I should have a zillion brownie points by now.

Donā€™t know if this belongs here but currently at The Nuffield Theatre on the Uni campus watching a play set to the music of Ian Dury.

Itā€™s called Reasons to be Cheerful and if you like Dury give it a go.

Itā€™s a really quirky production featuring apparently abled bodied performers alongside performers with various disabilities.

A bit like Mamma Mia (ABBA musical*) the songs are awkwardly shoehorned into the narrative but when they managed to fit Plaistow Patricia in context I forgave them everything.

Well worth a shout.

That Led Zeppelin cover band were on in town tonight.

Actually got a lot of coverage on the radio & social media - hell it even came up on the screen in the elevator at our office.

Hope it went well, unfortunately I had Damascus Saints round for a planning session for our upcoming ā€œWorld Tourā€ and we couldnā€™t reschedule for another night as heā€™s ooff on his 1st leg this weekend.

Iā€™ve just booked tickets to see Mac Demarco in November! Itā€™s in that fucking London place but I am literally shitting myself with excitement.

Try and not shit yourself in the queue to get in. The smell may be offputting for others, preferably shit yourself at the train station and change your trousers there.

Sooo, the real question here isā€¦has Brizzy got a new laptop or just getting better at avoiding the letter ā€œdā€?

My old English teacher used to run a comedy night local to us. He was fairly well connected (also good mates with Omid Djalili, somehow) and used manage to get all sorts of names down to Ruislip Golf Club for his nights (Russel Brand, Jimmy Carr, Andy Parsons, Jim Jeffries, Tim Minchin & Michael McIntyre all did gigs there).

He got Paul Chowdry down a fair few times, and he is honestly one of the funniest dudes Iā€™ve ever seen. My face would ache for hours after.

Lorde was wicked, btw.

So easy to forget sheā€™s still only 20 years old.

Get the feeling sheā€™s going to achieve pretty much whatever she wants in her career.

Bloody hell. He still around? Last saw him at Middle Wallop flying his Vintage Harvard Trainer at an airshow in the mid 90ā€™s

Just bagged a couple of freebies for Dizzee @Brixton tonight. Should be fun, and the price is very much right.

As always seems to be the way, making another trip down Saaaaf 'the River next week to see my beloved St Vincent.

We will be heading back to the Roundhouse for Lost Evenings by Frank Turner next May. All 4 nights. Booking in a long weekend to cope with it!
