You never disappoint. :rofl::rofl:

We have sheep too. Lots of them.

But I’m sorry to disappoint you: I was moderately serious in saying Shropshire has some great scenery and lovely open spaces.

Great crested grebe indeed. Their courtship dance is something to behold, though I have to confess I’ve only ever seen it on TV.

My parents’ first Springer spaniel, who was a great swimmer, used to love chasing after water fowl on the Itchin. Ducks, coots and moorhen would fly away, and he loved it. But when he encountered a great crested grebe he was flummoxed. It didn’t fly off, it dived. Danny the dog would swim around, looking about for it, only to see it pop up again several yards away. Danny would set off after it, only to see it disappear again. Eventually he’d give up and head back to the bank.

Around here it is usually swans, coots, moorhens, mallards, tufted ducks, Canada and Egyptian geese and some cormorants and herons. Oh and parakeets.
So this was quite a find for once. Though according to the bird book I got for Christmas they are usually resident around these parts. So not so exotic as I thought.

I guess they’re resident but not very common. They’re a bird you see around every now and again, but they’re far from ubiquitous in the manner of the Mallard, Coot, or indeed the Canada goose.

I see the evil ones are standing in the mud so you get covered in shit when they throw you off.

I thought the juxtaposition of the pylon in the middle of all that nature made a nice shot…

I inadvertently hooked a juvenile GCG whilst fishing once.

Since then they have been known as Stabby Faced Cunts at Dell Towers.
