Surely the best advice we can give JWP is to for him to ask that his name be taken off the list of availability for England; at least until the current manager is replaced.

Twas ever thus. The only England manager I recall actually saying it was Hodgson, when asked about a couple of Saints players. The others just blether on about picking players for the job in hand, etc, when it’s crystal clear that the “big club” mentality is the order of the day.

The fit extras axed are all on standby - UEFA rules for this tournament allows players to be added to the main squad during the tournament in the event of Covid/injury.
They will get some game time to stay match fit & to have played the system.
