I know it was a couple of weeks ago, but every time I think of that letter Ramsay sent to John Snerr, I have a little lol.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Hello, bastard. I’m gonna rape on ur sister. Come and see.

My dogs are gonna rape on ur brother.

You will love it, bastard. Come and see.

Yrs Sincerely

Ramsay Bolton

or whatever it was.

Standard penpal type letter.

Some promo action for next week’s ep. Not really that spoilery, but beware anyway.

After watching that promo for something like the sixth time, the most far fetched things in the GoT universe are:-

  1. Daenerys’ complexion
  2. Daenerys’ brows

She’s been in a hot climate for a long time. Do I have a point here, or are dark brows and no suntan just other side-effects of being the Unburnt?

Reminds me of the time I watched Shrek (2 maybe?) in Spanish in Cuba. My friend and I completely missed the Donkey and Cat swapping due to not picking up the different accents.

I am still absorbing the events of this week’s episode, and am starting to wonder along with the rest of the Internet, how much Bran is actually responsible for in the present scheme of things. As I’ve said before, I reckon everything that Bran has done has already happened. I don’t see him using his powers to resurrect anyone that we’ve seen gone from the show.

That last scene, where both he and tree boy are still in a vision, despite being surrounded by wights and White Walkers, was initially confusing. Why the fuck were they arseing about in vision world when the real one was crashing down upon them?

For one reason only. To complete a timeloop and ensure that Hodor happened.

The thing that really bakes the bonce, and we’ll never know one way or the other, is what actually happened to Hodor. Did the young version just get a vision of his own death, or did door Hodor’s mind go into the young Hodor?

I’ve been trying to work this out too and dont get the whole vision thing. If Bran wasnt there physically but was just watching how did the Night’s King manage to grab his arm? Arghhhh!!!

So this appeared to be a look for a lot of young women on the common today. Weird.

The latest episode was light on action but tied up a lot of loose ends. Brand flashback (and flash forward?) answers some questions but raises more. This is very interesting but only after you’ve seen episode 6. :

Spoilers ahoy!

Not a bad episode. An apt description as any would be “interconnecting”. That’s not to say there are no revelations. The episode opens with a set of vivid Bran flashbacks, and as Nobby’s Indy link indicates, flash forwards that ought to provide people with a crumb of comfort that dragons will be over Westeros. Dragons were a big thing in this episode. More on that later.

The vision section alone is the sort of thing that is going to have GoT fans pressing pause. I have not checked, but I’ll bet the GoT/ASoIaF community is going bonkers at the moment. The visions weren’t the only news from the North. Benjen Stark, last seen giving Jon Snerr (cheers, Bear) advice in season one, is the much predicted rescuer of Meera and Bran. He got fucked up by the White Walkers, but was saved by the Children of the Forest. He’s got a shard of dragonglass which keeps the Night’s Kings power from taking hold. Doesn’t look especially well though, and is confirmed to be the same character as Coldhands, a character from the books that intervenes on Bran’s behalf from time to time.

Bran is now apparently the new three eyed raven. His disassociation from the tree doesn’t seem to have made any difference to his powers. Doesn’t seem to be need to be connected to anything to exercise his powers. Benjen makes a point about him needing to learn more before the Night’s King shows up again. The North is kinda left there.

Back at Kings Landing, the much predicted showdown between the High Sparrow and the Tyrell army spectacularly failed to materialise. Margaery appears to have been turned, and is now a true convert to the Seven. Worse still, she appears to have convinced Tommen about the Faith and the Crown being the two twin pillars of the realm. Jamie is being sent off to head the retaking of Riverrun at the head of the Lannister army. Cersei awaits her trial by combat. She’ll be bringing the Mountain to that battle. The High Sparrow still needs a fucking bath. Scruffy fucker, as CB might say.

Samwell and Gilly arrive back at his ancestral home of Horn Hill, which looks to be a much better pad than I ever imagined, rivalling the Red Keep in terms of grandeur. I guess minor houses aren’t so minor. Sam’s dad is a complete bastard, and gives his mush a load of shite at the dinner table. In sticking up for him, Gilly lets slip that she’s a wildling, at which point he points to his Valryian sword, Heartsbane, and tells her how many wildlings he has killed with it. Sam, Gilly & baby do the offs in the middle of the night. Sam nicks the sword. Fair play, mush. Will come in handy against those wildlings provided your old man doesn’t track you down and gut you with it.

Things appear to be coming to a head over on Essos. Arya’s stuff hasn’t been that enjoyable this year. She started out blind, had the shit walloped out of her by evil staff girl and denying her identity. The stakes were raised last week when she was tasked with the elimination of someone, and discovered that the intended victim really didn’t deserve it. No moral good was being done. It was a perfect example of the beliefs of the adherents of the Many Faced God. They see death as a gift. I suppose they would do. It’s the perfect justification for going around murdering a lot of people for money.

Arya doesn’t see things this way, not least when she has to implement this murder. She cannot go through with it, and has now been marked for death by her co-religionists. This was only ever going one way. Arya Stark was always too headstrong and more importantly, far too connected with her prior life to ever submit to the full demands of the institution. I loved seeing the scene where she unburied Needle and am looking forward to the scene in which evil staff girl learns about the pointy end of things.

Finally, the show closes out on Daenerys, travelling through a narrow canyon with her horde of Dothraki. Bit of a moan here - it really didn’t look like much of a horde. She is supposed to have all Dothraki under her at the moment, so it’s weird to see Kings Landing jam packed in a prior scene and a comparatively strung out set of horsemen in another.

They arrive at a crossroads and Dany’s spider sense appears up. They have a quick chat about Dany being a conqueror, before she does the offs leaving the horde with Daario. She returns on the back of Drogon and asks the Dothraki whether they’re ready to sack Westeros. They agree that they are. At first glance, I thought the main purpose of this scene was just to show GoT viewers Dany flying on a dragon, but on reflection, she needs to keep that horde in line. Declaring the lot of them bloodriders (right hand men, essentially) whilst sat on the back of a dragon she controls ain’t a bad way to do that.

Hasn’t been a bad episode this season yet. With four episodes to go, looks like the whole GoT universe is about to go west.

One thing I forgot to mention was that the Freys were back onscreen. If we’re seeing them, it means one of two things. They’ll be killing people or are about to get killed themselves.

The last season of GoT is likely to be thirteen episodes long. The Indy are presenting it as two mini seasons, with six episodes shown one year and the rest shown the next. Far more likely that they’ll do a Breaking Bad, imo. They’ll put the first six episodes out as normal, do a hiatus of a few months, and follow it up with the final run in.

I hope that they dont break for a year for the run in. I dont think my nerves will stand the wait! :lou_sad:

There haven’t been enough tits or decent deaths in this series. Apart from that giant smashing someone against a wall. Disappointing overall.

Am I the only saddo on the planet who was gutted they didn’t get to see Margaery’s Bewbs and more when she did the walk of Atonement.

Sod the White Walkers Time Loop crap THAT was the non moment of the entire Series
