šŸ”« Future war predictions and general World aggression thread

You’re not Elisabeth Braw are you Barry?

scenario:

What if Russia suddenly announced that its Baltic Fleet had dispatched an armada towards Britain? Would most people greet the news with steely resolve in the knowledge that their governments would know what to do, or would constant Kremlin-influenced reports about the incompetence of British institutions make them conclude that any resistance was pointless?

It’s a strange article, with your ā€œRussia always bad and doing evilā€ attitude. She also seems happy for our governments to use propaganda lies on us, so we are more compliant. She’s part of the Atlantic Council that advise NATO.

Democracy at it’s finest.

Don’t disagree with that but we have 10,000 US stationed right here.

I wonder if the views of the Chinese has changed now, now that they covered up and denied for so long?

Dunno, but this a shit thread when you started it, tailed off toward the middle and the less said about the end, the better.

Still not wrong though, how do you think the Chinese have handled this? No whataboutery either.

ā€œOn Saturday World Health Organization (WHO) head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised Bejing’s response to the outbreakā€.

Its all going on here then

How did western media respond to that news?

And just to show how the fear porn works, here’s one expert view.

ā€œRather, the novel coronavirus most closely relates to a severe case of the common cold.ā€

And 2 years down the line……

Oh.

Worth resurrecting this thread because of this

Now, is he spouting off because the Tories are no longer in power or does he have a point?

Have been listening to an excellent series of podcasts (The Rest Is History) on why the ā€œGreatā€War started and you can see ill thought out similarities being spouted by this bloke.

His job is to be there for when things go wrong, not tub thumping and setting a timetable (ensuring we have capabilities to defend ourselves would be prudent).

It as if he’s putting himself front and centre for a job

This is a bit self-contradictory, Cobs. If he thinks we wouldn’t be able to defend ourselves, he’d be derelict in his duty by not saying so and saying why. It’s a bit late for him to ā€œbe there when things go wrongā€ if he knows we couldn’t do anything about it.

Errrm - not contradictory at all.

I guess the next question is why has he been allowed to talk to the press
