Fonte hands in transfer request

What a fuck up all round. Shame.

If true, hardly a massive leap up the food chain is it Jose?

Tragic…from Hero to Zero in one easy lesson…

…imagine you have all the cards.

Can’t we swap him for Payet?

Yeah, it really is only a case of not wanting him to go for purely sentimental reasons really isn’t it?

I mean, meh. Maybe you could argue that his leadership on and off the pitch is important but from the sound of things that’s very much in question at the moment. He’s obviously fallen out with the management in quite a big way.

Not sure about that. Although Yoshida’s played pretty well I’d still rather have Fonte playing.

Still, he’s made his bed, he can fucking lie in it.

Well, if he’s come back from a mightily successful Euros campaign demanding a fat pay rise, a contract extension or indeed both, and the club hasn’t met his demands, then I guess he may well have fallen out with the management. But, if this is indeed the case (and it’s pure conjecture on my part, in case annybody’s wondering) then I know who I would say is in the wrong.

I guess so…

Still, s’pose he’d have needed replacing soon enough.

*sigh* all very ā€˜meh’ about Saints transfers these days. We just seem to have to make do with getting what we’re given to such an extent that I can barely register an emotional response to it.

Just watched a Fonte compilation on twitter. The league 1 jouney was so good it cant be replicated.

Its sad its ended this way

fuck the premier league

IF Saints were to sign a 33 year old defender for Ā£8 million, pay him Ā£3 million a year for a 4 year contract, we’d think the club had gone mad.

So long Jose. Thanks for all the fish

I’ve said it before the extra money won’t make him or his family happier or more secure. He’s spent the last 6 months engineering a move from a place he loved and spent the happiest years of his football career, tainting those memories in the process.

Will he expect a tearful reception and plaudits of grateful fans when he steps out for West Ham on Feb 4th. I think not. :lou_facepalm_2:

Let’s not get into that whole booing thing.

He was a great leader for us in a golden era.

He hasn’t slagged us off (yet), he’s just moving on, as are we.

It’ll be nice to see him again if he returns in a different shirt.

Especially if he’s playing like a twat.

I’m not advocating we should boo him…not that it will stop a lot of fans.

It’s okay I didn’t think you were - I was just trying to head off at the pass those simpletons who believe that anyone who takes off the shirt is now dead to them.

If he goes to West Ham he is dead to me!

100% this. If Saints adopt any single part of West Ham’s transfer policy then its over, but fortunately that’s about as likely as a Martina scoring spree

Martina is all about quality not quantity - the Osvaldo approach.

I prefer it when they take off their shirt

Given what Claude is saying now it seems that this situation has been a big festering boil behind the scenes since the beginning of the season. Could explain a lot, especially the exclusion from the European games.
