šŸ†āš½ FA Cup 5th Round 2023 - :saints: Saints v Grimsby 🐟 - Live on ITV4

The Shitshow was the ref imho! Inconsistent and should be ASHAMED of that penalty decision and VAR, as I said at it’s very inception into the EPL, is at best a divisive tool created to eek out you joy.

I’ve no fucks left to give, I’ll see you next year, whichever league it may be.

Good luck y’all, football will never be bigger than life. Period

I feel very much the same. VAR is to correct clear and obvious errors. Not to spend ten minutes analyzing in minute detail to engineer a decision.

It’s corrupt. No other word for it

If we’re looking to var to bale us out of defeat v L2 oppo, then we’re already fucked.

Grimsby shouldn’t have been allowed in our half, let alone our penalty area.

That’s it I’m done. Stick a fork in me.

I am going to Carlisle at home on Saturday with my boy. Yep you guessed it they have Grimsby Town. Have to listen to Wembley songs all afternoon..

Enjoy the rest of the season :grimacing:

Just got home and seen it on TV. Yes it was handball by the worst Brazilian to ever play football, but they completely overlooked the handball by the winger before he crossed it.

Just been drinking with some fishy people and don’t begrudge them their success. At least Spurs lost and we won’t have to chaange the game on the 18th to midweek.

Remembering McGoldrick aand Patterson, I still think Maraa and Armstrong are the worst forward line I,ve seen in nearly 60 yeaars.

And I missed our goal as I was doing my Wordle.

Well, just caught up with the result & what happened in the 2nd half. What an absolute shit show.

Just when I didn’t think we had it in us to do worse, we went and did it.

Have no idea how anyone is going to fix it.

Interesting debate on fiverweb. For Theo’s disallowed goal the freeze-frame used was clearly after the ball left JWP’s boot. I think this happens a lot: minute analysis of the lines but the lines can be engineered by the moment that is chosen, and there are never any comparisons of different choices of freeze-frame.

The offside for their first pen was similar and the line drawn through the defender’s arm. It’s not precise technology, it’s subjectively manipulated.

Well, having slept on it…

I actually enjoyed the evening, but more for the company than the football (Lord Slowlane having very kindly invited me along off the back of one of his mates season tickets. I thought it was a nice gesture, allowing a serf onto the estate :+1::+1:). So I had a very pleasant evening, Saints FC notwithstanding.

But Christ, we were poor. A few players looked okay, especially Lavia and dare I say it, Djenepo. But the front line looked absolutely toothless, Armstrong has a capacity to disappoint beyond anything I could have imagined when we signed him. Up to now I’ve thought he’d tear it up against non-PL defences like he did at at Blackburn, but he’s been well and truly Saintsed out of his scoring touch.

I stand by my prediction of six more points before seasons end. Championship here we come.

That’s what I was aiming for with my 42 points CL (champions League )

Autocorrect. The spellcheck knows all about football, and nothing about Saints :unamused::smile::smile::smile:

Well yes thanks @scotty for accompanying me last evening. It was kind of you to realise I need someone to hold my hand at this traumatic time in my Saints supporting life. Thanks also for carrying the picnic hamper…hope the Jugged Hare didn’t repeat on you as it did me but that wasn’t by any means the worst of the evening.

I do sometimes think I know fuck all about the game… because what I saw last night was no different to many Saints performances and merely highlighted our lack of a decent forward more so than normal BECAUSE we had so much procession, played some nice stuff, pissed all over them at times, yet the same problem persists - lack of penetration in final third and ability to score especially against a crowded and committed defence.

We fielded a much changed and very young side that battered them in all areas bar the one that matters… reminded me of the German National team TBH - loads of young talent, good in two thirds, but no recognised strikers and inexperience leading to defensive lapses.

We need a Ricky Lambert type, not just because he knows how to score, but someone around whom the team can come together.

I dont like words ā€˜disgraceful’ etc - The only thing disgraceful was that cunt McCoist bias and disgraceful comments about saints… when back in studio they acknowledged we bossed it, were the better side by far, but lacked that attacking nous…

If we want to focus any anger (not sure it really has a place in football which is something we chose to like for our entertainment) reserve it for an incompetent ref (had that been a saints player going in like that tackle in the prem, would have been straight red , no doubt about it), and for the back slap pen… the ball had been in the keepers hands for ages by the time they had a coming together… should not have retaliated, should have fallen over…as their player did, but ref fell for every cheating cunt ploy they engaged in… or the fact we spent money on more MFs (mid-fielders not motherfuckers) and not on a Striker (assuming there were any out there of sufficient quality who would come here) …

Well, that’s the point isn’t it. Our position hardly makes us an attractive option for prospective signings, and everyone wants quality goalscorers so they’ll always have alternatives.

I could understand the tears mate, and even the audible sobbing. But when you started on the port and brandy and wailing incoherently about 76 and Big Lawrie, it did start to get a bit embarrassing. Those stewards looked absolutely mortified when they carried you out. :flushed::flushed::grin:

Naaa they’re used to it now…that’s the third time they’ve had to carry me out this year and it’s only the beginning of March.
