Thank god for that. My boy is so happy, on his 7th game of which 6 have been away he has seen Saints win. I wanted us to hang on just as much for him. The look on his face when both goals went in was priceless.
He did see us win in 2015 at Sunderland but he was 5 years old.
Seems a pointless post Phil, given none of us can read them
2nd on MOTD
Iāll take that.
Southampton Australian Supporters Match Report v Everton:
-
After the highs of playing City off the park, it was back to the stark reality of our league position. Itās sort of like dining out on lobster only to get really bad food poisoning the next day. Sure you had a good time, but now you find yourself trapped on the bottomā¦
-
Itās refreshing to go into a match against a team with a fanbase as miserable as our own, if not more so. News breaks before the game that their owners wonāt be attending because of safety fears - we assume thatās less to do with unruly fans and more to do with Southamptonās errant shooting
-
The game gets underway and the glow of the City performance quickly turns into a haze of pain and suffering. Even the Everton fans, who are 38 days into a hunger strike and have glued their hands to their seats have come alive. If any owners need to get their fans back onside, give Southampton a call. Sure enough, they score. 1-0. Ffs

The half time whistle is blown to announce the end of all joy and happiness in the world. Weāre cut adrift and relegation is certain #JonesOut #PuelIn
-
Thankfully in football thereās always a chance to make up for your mistakes, and within a minute of the second half we see that take place in glorious form.
-
JWP, who finally worked out not to pass to players who canāt shoot, picks up a lovely cushioned header from Che, before making the Everton defender look likeā¦an Everton defender and calmly slotting the ball home. 1-1! Get in!! Who needs a striker when youāve got James Ward-Prowsinho?
-
The last thing any team wants to do against Southampton is to give away free-kicks in a dangerous zone. Thankfully the young James Hird didnāt get the memo and barged through the back of Che Adams to give us one in what we call the Goldilocks range. Not too close (hot), not too far out (cold), juuuust right. All thatās left to do is watch James Ward-Prowse place that perfect bowl of porridge past the Madame Tussaud Jordan Pickford. 2-1. Have some of that Becks!
-
A couple more close calls followed, Lyanco did Lyanco things, Baz made some quality saves and we brought on the greatest Argentinian footballer of all time for his Southampton debut.
-
You can always tell thereās only a matter of minutes left at Goodison Park when a bunch of overweight blokes in bright yellow pose like theyāre bikini models on the side of the pitch.
-
Tick, tick, tick. Timeās either running out or an Everton fans about to take the protest too far. BANG! Full time. Saints win at Goodison! Last time that happened there were dinosaurs on the pitch.
The End.
Oi some of those dinosaurs were the best footballers we have seen
Joke review of the game. Only spoke about JWP and then the Everton unrest. No review of the game nor any critique of the Saints win. Useless programme
I was my usual restrained self.
This week has eased my worried mind slightly.
NJ appears to have plan and the players appear to be implementing it. Perhaps the negative reaction to Jones has created a bunker mentality.
It wasnāt a classic (decent relegation scrap though) and we rode our luck.
I feel better about being bottom than I did a week ago.
Ps Lyanco still worries me.
Thatās putting it mildly
At least Lyanco has the passion for the fight and for the love of the game!
To put it into perspectiveā¦weāre starting to get the luck others usually get against us.

Whilst Iām skeptical about the forum darling Lyanco, Iām beginning to see why we bought Äaleta-Car. Awesome against City and solid yesterday. He appears to have calmed Salisu down too.
I thought Lyanco was excellent again yesterday, after being so versus City. Salisu lost the Everton goalscorer but was good for the rest of the game
I thought Elyonussii was at fault for their goal. He was marking Onana.

I thought Lyanco was excellent again yesterday, after being so versus City.
He was excellent defensively and I love the way he plays, 100% commitment to the cause, but the one thing he doesnāt seem able to do is pass a ball. I lost count of the dreadful passes he cocked up yesterday.

To put it into perspectiveā¦weāre starting to get the luck others usually get against us.
Thereās a lot of truth in that. The difference for me was that yesterday we deserved the luck, or at least earned it. Against Palace we were shockingly poor and won with two gifted goals against a side who really should have put us to bed easily. The City game was the first Iāve seen under NJ where every player knew where they should be and what they should be doing when they got there. We genuinely deserved that win.
