Maybe, Roy - and granted I’m not the manager of the England national team (nor have I managed so much as… a cat) - but my intuition suggests that Clyne was a little disappointed because you had one (1) right back at your disposal and chose not to use him.
Then substituted your makeshift right back; NOT with your actual right back, but a central midfielder.
Then watched the team concede a goal, rooted at least partly in the lack of a right back on the pitch.
Then gave your actual right back an insultingly brief appearance.
Now, again - I’ve never been a professional footballer, Hooty McOwlface, but I can kinda sorta fathom why that wouldn’t make you feel like a valuable member of a squad.
