He is an anti EU politician as you’ll see, a career move and one that devalues him.
I think he’s taking an adroit line on this, Barry. I won’t bore you with the detail again, but in, and he’s already set the terms of any chats if he becomes PM, and is seen to get the result he wants. Out, and the EU is a problem he can choose not to deal with,
If things do go tits up after a Brexit and we fancy getting back in, then Corbyn could be the man to bring that about.
Obama is coming here on a charm offensive. The US has always wanted us in, and Barack is a charmer. He could be instrumental in galvanising a remain consensus.
The yanks want us in for their own purpose, Nations pursuing their own interests, similar to Hungary and Austria?
On the note of the EU why don’t the Americans open their borders to all in central America and have a North and Central American Union? No didn’t think so either, hypocrites and hollow.
What are we going to build?
A wall
who is going to pay for it?
the Mexicans
So why doesn’t Obama do this quickly then (have an North American EU equivalent) ? Because it wouldn’t benefit America, it benefits America when the UK are at the EU dining table as we can lobby for them.
If you believe a wall will be built and Mexico are going to pay for it you are more gullible than the people voting for him, how exactly would Mexico pay for the wall? And even if they had to by law (quote that bit) why would they?
Johnson is not happy about Obama’s intervention.
"Because that - or so we will be told - is the only way we can have ‘influence’ in the councils of the nations. It is an important argument, and deserves to be taken seriously. I also think it is wholly fallacious - and coming from Uncle Sam it is a piece of outrageous and exorbitant hypocrisy.
“There is no country in the world that defends its own sovereignty with such hysterical vigilance as the United States of America. This is a nation born from its glorious refusal to accept overseas control.”
I have no doubt that what I posted will never come to pass - however Trump trots that out at every rally and a lot of yanks are buying it
with regards to the EU, the US see us as a voice of reason and a way of influencing policy. If we leave they lose that.

He has a point.
I think I said that in my previous post CB so I don’t know why you’re disagreeing with me, I have been saying this longer than all on here concerning the EU and I don’t see my argument weakening at all but being strengthened by people like Merkel.
The US wants us in there for their benefit, not ours.
The EU want us in there for their benefit not ours.
Fuck them.
I think we know what to expect from Obama. Mostly positive messages about the value of being stronger together than we are apart; the carrot, in other words. I’m sure that “saving the EU” would be something he’d like to do, but in truth (drum roll) Barry is correct. The US doesn’t do much out of altruism.
Yes I quite agree, I find the more we are bossed around the more we’ll tell them where to stick it, we aren’t stupid.
Our special friends are really sticking their oar in
Why do the prices still vary so much concerning our goods? PS VR is $399 Euro and £349, still treated with distain when it comes to products.
20% VAT certainly doesn’t help.
The long-touted position is that “we’re an island”, and that has traditionally been used to push our prices up. Frankly, I don’t really buy that in the age of globalisation where most goods we or anyone else in the West buys comes from the Far East, even the stuff that is “British branded”.
On a slightly different note, is this the real reason the US wants us in?
Don’t generally post in here, but this is fucking laughable
NIGEL Farage will be propelled into Downing Street if the UK stays in the EU, Scotland’s only elected Ukip politician has predicted.
David Coburn claimed that if Britain’s voters choose to remain in June, Brussels would “drag all the mad grannies out of the attic” shortly afterwards, forcing the UK to join the single currency and agree to a pan-European income tax.
The MEP believes the ensuing backlash prompted by the EU’s “dreadful schemes” would lead to a Ukip general election victory.
He added: “There’s a whole bunch of mad stuff they’re hiding away… if we lose the EU referendum I can tell you right now I’m putting good money on the next Prime Minister being Nigel Farage.”
He added: “We entered the EU together, we must part the EU together. I asked Juncker, who’s the president of the EU about this, and after much humming and hawing he came up with the answer that Scotland will be out of the EU if England’s out. And it will not be allowed to reapply until after Turkey has joined the EU. I don’t know how many of you think it will be a good idea to be part of a European Union which includes 75 million people in Turkey who then have access to our NHS. Nicola [Sturgeon] would not dare have another referendum because she knows fine well she’d lose it.”
But sure, the In campaign are all about fearmongering
Fear is a distraction which I don’t think we should draw much from. What do we learn from KRGs contribution? Personally, I knew that UKIP have got their fair share of nutbags, and I’ve commented loudly on their tawdry domestic campaigning style. They’re at the point now where their campaigning is in the dirt, and they call the postal vote system into question when they lose.
As has been remarked before, it’s a binary choice which is going to be made from individual perspectives. Do I think that this fella is making a valid argument? Not to me, but he knows that other people will make decisions along those lines.
This is already a much spicier referendum than the undercooked AV poll. Just this week, we’ve had stories about Gove, a senior figure in Cameron’s administration, losing his job because he may have leaked the Queen’s preference. It’ll get dirtier yet. Don’t play in the mud.
The fear thing was more of an aside, tbh. I just find the suggestion that if people vote to reject Brexit, the logical next step is a Farage Premiership hilarious.
That’s some gold medal winning mental gymnastics right there. Dude can’t even win a seat in Westminister.
Timely article from my buddy Bryan Gould
The differecne between a UKIP voter and an EU sceptic and person who wants out could be close or huge, the smearing negative pro EU people are too stupid to see this, it doesnt fit their agenda.
So so true and an argument I have been on for ever, the fascst left and the radical movement can’t see this as they hate the state and want it to fall at all costs, the enemy within.
