Stumps - Day 4
New Zealand 438 & 288-9d
England 354 & 103-4
England need 270 runs, New Zealand 6 wickets
6.30pm Well. That was one of the craziest afternoons I have ever witnessed. The upshot is that New Zealand are six wickets away from a famous overseas series win, and despite the excitement surrounding Ben Stokes, it is Daryl Mitchell who takes the plaudits after an outstanding personal contribution. A hugely gutsy century set England a taxing 373 to win, and it was his two brilliant catches - including a tumbling effort at mid-on to end Stokes’ career - that has put his team on the way to victory. When Joe Root endures, it’s hard to discount a miracle. But Harry Brook’s Stokes-lite contribution ended tamely, and without that sort of power in the tank, the remaining runs will be hard to pick off, especially on this fifth-day pitch.
I assume that Ben Stokes decided to tell someone (probably suits) to go fvck themselves
And did it quite magnificently

And from the way we batted this evening, the rest of the team did likewise.

The way Baz & Brn chatted & were dmiling after his knock as well.
Think it’s a team v suits thing
And Ben is done mentally ckearly
Lunch quickly approaching and England are 191-7
I suppose they’ve got past the halfway stage of the required runs. However the pitch is now bowler friendly…
1 more over before lunch I guess
India 189-7 rain delay England had a wet ball for 16 overs
Match abandoned.
Speaking as someone who went up there to watch a 4 day game that not one ball was bowled. How much longer must we waste our time having International cricket in such an absurd location.
Mind you, it’s better than fucking Cardiff.

So we are going to win Blast Finals Day without Liam? Guess that’s his last game for us this year.

Simple. He can’t play for us in the next 2 weeks while he’s playing for England. He’s also retired from red ball and he’ll be in the fucking 100 so won’t play in the 50 over.

I’ve been enjoying the Women’s T20 WC. Been some cracking games.
It’s the hope that hurts but IF, that’s a big IF, we can put some pressure on the Aussie machine then maybe.
Aussies win toss and field.
7~1.
Amy Jones does her usual and gets caught playing a wide one.
Aussies strangling England.
76~4 off 12.
Aussies won by 7 wickets.
150 was never enough against the best in the world.

England vs. India T20 at Trent Bridge.
England 201 - 7 20 overs
India 76 ao 11.4 overs
A hammering.
Liam didn’t get a bat or a bowl. He might have fielded the ball a couple of times but I can’t be sure.
England 201- 7. India 76 all out. 4 defeats in a row for India - oh dear, and that includes 2 defeats v Ireland. Well done England after losing the Test Series against NZ.
