India 90-0 from 11. zzzzzzzzzzz

3rd ODI.

India 206-2 from 31.2 overs

Shubman Gill has just got his 102* from 95 balls

And now Shreyas 50 up from 44 balls

224-2 from 33.2 overs

Shubman Gill bowled by Rashid, trying to sweep him out of the ground.

226-3 from 34.3 overs

Not the fireworks of previous matches but still going at 6.54 an over

Rashid to Gill, OUT

bowled him! Not the best shot from Gill, goes across the line without playing a proper sweep, and I think he’s done for length here apart from the fact that this was the wrong’un. Too full to sweep, and he ends up attempting a standing sweep, and sort of yorks himself as the ball turns in and disturbs his furniture. Ends a brilliant, serene innings that was shaping up to swell to frightening proportions

Shubman Gill b Rashid 112 (102b 14x4 3x6) SR: 109.8

Been out for coffee, come back and India are now 333-7 from 46.4 overs

Wood just got Kahul out LBW (40 from 29 balls)

Atkinson getting tonked by the tailenders in his last over, England’s penultimate, but wait, a wicket on his last ball, still 13 off of the over.

353-8, 1 over remaining

Kuldeep and Arshdeep in the middle, India certainly bat deep!!

356 all out, from 50 overs, stumped/run out for the last ball.

Given as run out (Salt), guess that’s because Salt didn’t have the balls in his glove when the stumps were broken by the ball…

Over 7 an over - going to be too many for us

They’re going at just under 10 an over at the moment.

48-0 from 5 overs

Duckett injured too, can’t really move his legs but that’s alright when you can smack it for boundaries all the time

Duckett 33* from 18

Arshdeep gets Duckett caught in the deep for 34, a knuckle ball apparently…

60-1 from 6.2 overs

Arshdeep to Duckett, OUT

has a huge wipe through the line! Oh dear, it’s deja vu all over again! Another flying start from England, and another quality innings ended too soon. Duckett can’t pick the slower ball, hoists it high in the air to Rohit at mid-off, who makes no mistake. Is this the start of the inevitable?

Ben Duckett c Sharma b Arshdeep Singh 34 (22b 8x4 0x6) SR: 154.54

Banton at the crease, didn’t he play for Ireland, like Morgan I guess??

Oh, reverse sweep for 6

And then KP comes on comms

Soft dismissal for Salt there, tries to steer a ball over the fielders but no pace on the ball, easy catch

80-2 from 8.4

Arshdeep to Salt, OUT

rocks back to the slower ball, a lollipop catch to point! That’s a snowball-soft dismissal, as Salt attempts the uppercut but there’s nothing there to work with at all. A bit of pace on the ball and that could have been six… 119kph on the other hand, is a dolly of a lobbed catch!

Phil Salt c Patel b Arshdeep Singh 23 (21b 4x4 0x6) SR: 109.52

After 11 overs England are 89-2, India were 62-1

16 overs gone

England 115-2, run rate has slowed down a fair bit…

  • Current RR: 7.18
  • Required RR: 7.11
  • Last 5 ov (RR): 26/0 (5.20)

Another 6 from a reverse sweep from Banton, 2nd ball after drinks too, usually that would have been a wicket

Hmmmm, not sure about that.

Banton given out caught behind but I’m not sure about ultra edge.

There looked to be a gap between bat and ball and the spike was after the ball had passed the bat!! Maybe it was just me.

Anyway 126-3 from 18

Kuldeep to Banton, OUT

oooh, did he edge that? The umpire thinks he did, and Banton doesn’t appear to be sure himself. He consults with Root before reviewing. Beautifully flighted wrong’un, pitches on middle stump or thereabouts, brings Banton forward to defend without allowing him to get close to the pitch of the ball. From there it turns away and, yup, it’s brushed the outside edge on its way to Rahul, who completes the catch after a juggle. Classic Kuldeep wicket

Tom Banton c †Rahul b Kuldeep Yadav 38 (41b 4x4 2x6) SR: 92.68

Root gone, inside edge on to pads on to stumps 24 from 29 balls

134-4 after 20.2, run rate really slowed down since the spinners have come on.

Current 6.59, required 7.52

Stick a fork in.

Another inside edge on to the stumps, Buttler this time, angled bat to a wide ball

Buttler 6 (9)

England 154-5, 24.1 overs

Harshit Rana to Buttler, OUT

and strikes immediately! Buttler’s bottom hand, so devastating when things are going well, becomes his foe here. Back of a length and into the pitch, fairly wide of off, and Buttler goes hard at the back-foot punch, with his bottom hand taking over and causing him to address the ball with an angled bat. Gets a thick inside edge that rattles his stumps, and England are five down

Jos Buttler b Harshit Rana 6 (9b 0x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

  • Current RR: 6.32
  • Required RR: 7.90
  • Last 5 ov (RR): 24/2 (4.80)

The Indian commentator is very scathing of England’s lack of practice, apparently the only person who has been in the nets is Root.

And now we have KP trying to tell people how to play spin, how did that go for you then??
