🖨 😤 Does Anyone Make a Reliable Printer

My multi-function HP Printer has always been a bit flaky. Now it just fucking ignores me.

Prints only in B&W from my desktop computer whilst it sails along from Lady Slowlane’s and my Laptop in glorious colour.

Now it’s decided not to scan anything because it says it’s not connected to my network but the printer is. :lou_facepalm_2:

I’m now ready to take the whole shit show down to the abattoir for a bolt through its print head.

Yes I’m ready to buy a new one. Recommendations welcome under £200 if poss.

Mine did that.
I nought a printer cable & ditched WiFi

I also went to advanced settings and found it was set to gray scale

Its an HP

Now works fine on the cable.

Hth

I broke two bones in my hand because of a fucking printer.

Let’s face it, if its wi-fi connection isn’t good for spanning 6 feet across the room, it’s getting the boot.

I don’t think there is such a thing as a reliable printer. They are the cat of the tech world;

Running low on ink? Printer says here have a test sheet.

Need something printed today? Printer says maybe you should have thought of that last week, today is not good for me.

Only got one sheet of paper left? Printer says here have a test sheet.

Got plenty of paper and plenty of ink? Printer says can’t find network.

Think it’s 50/50 your scan will be the right way up? Printer says 100% upside down.

Printer actually printing? Here have a test sheet and that document you wanted last week, oh and by the way I’m now out of ink.

Reincarnated cats is what they are, that’s why alive cats hate printers.

My old HP Envy 5000 have up the ghost so I got a newer one, three 6100e series, £60 or so, it’s been golden for me.

Plus HP Instant ink is a godsend

Well comes a new day, comes a new approach.

As the printer seems to be working but not the scanning I thought I’d clear my desktop and search for another piece of equipment I remember buying during lockdown.

To my surprise I found my super duper Epson V600 Film Scanner which has the ability to scan documents under a full 3 year detritus. I jabbed the on/off switch and a reassuring blue light came on.

I scanned yesterday’s failed operation and luxuriated in the success. Having another 6 pages to scan I continued. Page 2 returned an error message that the scanner could not be found. The scanner was refusing to operate despite still having the comforting little blue light staring at me.

After an hour pursuing a remedy through online troubleshooting videos, I decided to turn it off and turn it on again. Still not talking to me.

Every cable was connected so in one last act of desperation I disconnected the USB cable and plugged it into a different USB port.

The remaining 6 pages were scanned successfully. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

I thought you still used a quill?

Not since immigrants have eaten all the Swans on the estate.

II used to have that exact same problem with my HP Scanner

Then for some reason I ccheccked the display on the Printer and it was saying “Add another Page?”

Life has been scanderful ever since, heck that display even tells me to add paper

I dunno, I once had a cat who loved to curl up on top of my printer (when it wasn’t printing, obviously).

How often did you have to defluff?

Not often, fortunately - she wasn’t a very moulty cat.

I’ve got this one - it has refillable ink which seems to last longer and is much cheaper than those cartridges. Plus the printer can’t suss if you are using after market ink
