Went to see this tonight.

It was also on in Southampton tonight. Poole and Bournemouth dates are on this week. They also have a crowdfunding going to be able to show it in more places. Shows how they’ve been dismantling the NHS since Thatcher.

Riding a Dream (not porn) on ITV just now. If you like horses.

Quite enjoying The Americas with Simon Reeve on BBC iPlayer. Fuck me the US has some problems.

This is exactly the sort of post that the Bookmark function was designed for.

Looking forward to watching that when I get time.

Greatest events of WWII in colour
Well constructed old footage restored to HD Colour. Each episode deals with a major point In the war with Historians & footage.
I have learnt a lot. The episodes hold nothing back and cover the mistakes and back stories as much as the traditional heroics

Dresden was particularly tough on Bomber Harris & in a way Churchill but it was measured.
Then the story of the discovery of Buchenwald Concentration camp.

For me this was TV at it’s best. Harrowing, informative and horrifying because the talking heads used terms that relate to today.
Keep repeating the lie until people believe it is the truth. Fake news. Blame.

It would be out of context but if you cant watch the whole show, watch Series 1 Episode 9.
The scenes wont horrifying you. Using modern language to compare to today will chill you to the bone.
I am certain that was not the point of the episode but it was the effect.
Put my trips to Auschwitz into context again and filled in so much back story

Tonight’s Dispatches “Britain’s child drug runners”
Just watching the bit about the drugs being kept in cavities.

Worked with a few teens involved in this and it is so hard to make changes. The money they can make when their families are in poverty.

Oh and 3 part “why dad killed mum”. Brace yourself for it. Covers child exploitation in late 90s. Just watched it and still lost for words.

Gary Neville’s documentary on the Qatar World Cup.

Blimey the Bros documentary.

This is a good 3 part doc. to accompany the Gordon Burn book ‘Somebody’s Husband Somebody’s Son: The Story of the Yorkshire Ripper’:

It is just a bit crazy. Lots of people have said if you watch it more than once (unlikely I will) then you see each side.

I’m so tempted to get Matt Goss words of wisdom tattooed all over me :joy:

I shall sit down and binge watch this at some point. I read Burn’s book a few years ago, a very well written fascinating read. I suspect there is quite a lot we don’t yet know about this case, not least Sutcliffe’s relationship with Jimmy Savile. They spent hours together in Sutcliffe’s room at Broadmoor, were very friendly according to many accounts. Much speculation about a possible role by Savile during the attacks, indeed one of the victims was found in the grounds of one of Savile’s homes in Leeds. Savile himself was pulled in and questioned a couple of times during the Ripper investigation after anonymous tip offs, but nothing came of it. Given what is now known about Savile and his exploits it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he played a role.

Love a bit of Terry Hearn.

I watched Whitney (Houston) on the TV tonight. It was very sad and made me cry at the end. Plenty of stuff I never knew (why would I). The saddest part was about her daughter. Was never a fan of her music (mainly dull) but appreciate her voice and recognise that she was a superstar of my youth.
