Good news and bad news.

In fact two bits of bad news and one bit of good news. Well one of the bits of bad news might actually be good news. So perhaps two bits of bad news and two bits of good news.

Shall I get on?

Good news 0 - 0 Bad News

So the bad news is I’m off work with the shitz (bad for me - and Mrs NotBletch)

Good news 0 - 1 Bad News

But the good news is that I’ve had time to look into this.

Good news 1 - 1 Bad News

The really bad news is that Uncle Elon has decided that we were all enjoying free access to the Tweets database too much, so he’s decided he wants $100/month for that to continue.

As @pap can’t even remember to pay eleven quid to host the main site, it seems pointless asking him if seeing tweets is worth a Benjamin a month.

Good News 1 - 2 Bad News

However, it appears that there is a workaround for this. I installed something that should achieve the same results and you should be able to paste links to Tweets as you did before.

The behaviour will be slightly different.

  1. It may complain in the post preview that the Tweet can’t be loaded but after you make the post, a preview should appear for you.
  2. The preview seems to be generated as you’re looking at the post. This means that if you’re scrolling through posts, the preview might not be visible but if you stop and rest on a post that has a Tweet, it should appear.
  3. You may need to refresh your page to see the changes.

So that’s…

Good News 2 - 2 Bad News.

A creditable draw but sadly unlike Braverman not the three points Sotonians needed to stay in the top division of football-related forums.

Twitter is a software program that informs us when an insider/Civil Servant decides to take down a Politician.
Hth

All you need to know is that Stephen Fry thinks it’s great.

That should convince you that you have no need to ponder the matter further.
