:mapoftasmania: Discourse Downgrade…

There must be photos, Phil.

Rule 1…

Photos.
Of a stag in a gay bar.
Obviiusly
On a disposable camera donated by & returned to fiance.
She was impressed that i got a double headed fvck spider to sit on his lap. Said it was well worth the $50 it cost her

And that’s why me and Scotty very rarely sleep together anymore.

I heard sandtrap Phil got a hole in one?

Ummm, has the site been down for everyone else today?

OK, so like Scotty (not that one) coming up from engineering mumbling something about dilithium crystals, I feel I should make a statement about the recent server outage.

“At this time, I have no fucking clue what happened.”

Bob and I tried to put some jump leads on the battery* but we couldn’t even pop the bonnet* as someone had confiscated both sets of keys*.

If I were a gambling man I’d guess (in order of likeliness)

  1. @pap didn’t pay the bill
  2. The hosting company had a complete local failure on the Sotonians server or their permissions/billing system was fubar.
  3. @pap had/has been abducted by the CIA, then, being the fascists they are, they redacted.
  4. @pap didn’t pay the bill
* Bletch is dumbing things down for his Luddite Cunt audience

The company that hosts the site allows one person to own the site (they also pay the bills - that’s @pap). They then allow others to be members of the project (that’s @BTripz and me). These members are allowed to make technical changes to the project.

When Bob and I logged in we were told that we weren’t members of the Sotonians project and therefore didn’t have permission to access the site. Neither could we do a low-level login to the server. There was nothing we could do.

Technically, I’m at a loss to explain it. I contacted support and I’m still waiting for a reply.

And we thank you for that.

I think anyone trying to log in to the site from a web browser (by refreshing the page) would have not been able to access the site.

Anyone using a browser that was left logged in (phone) may have had some cached access but from the logs it looks like it was offline from about 11:38 until roughly 18:01.

No data appears to have left the server during that time.

Phil, can you tell me if you were able to do anything during the time in bold above (UK time)?

As I mentioned, you may have had the ‘client’ app on your phone, but I don’t think the server was sending data to it.

I could access all area’s but I never posted anything

Warning - in a couple of mins I’m going to reboot the server to ensure it’s on the latest s/w.

And we’re back.

Shot over a matter of £11.10.

Sorry all. I have been busy lately.

Yeah, I see the issue now but not sure what’s behind it. I tried a couple of things but couldn’t easily see the cause.

I’ll have a think…
